![]() Sure. Your stance on Hydroxy C is proof of the good intentions to hell with saving lives today. But how about a discussion of the subject???
The radical left wants all symbols of the Confederacy burned and removed. What is a bigger symbol of slaveholders and suppression of blacks than the champion party of the slave holding South who erected those very statues and rode the night with white supremacy capes and flaming crosses?

Perhaps then you should look at your family history and see if you are pure enough to have a valid opinion. I can tell you that my great grandfather, was a plantation owner in North Carolina. He inherited the plantation from his father who had slaves prior to the Civil War. As he was raised in that environment, he did not treat the African Americans that were still working his plantation very well even after they obtained their freedom. My grandfather became disgusted with their treatment and left home at the age of 16 and removed himself from that situation. He told his father he didn't want anything from him and would make his own way. He took jobs for the railroads and eventually in the coal mines of West Virginia, working his way up to foreman and eventually mine superintendent. He had many people working for him and a good number of them black. He was known for always treating everyone fair regardless of race, which caused some issues with a few of the white racists that worked there. When my grandfather died, there was a older black gentleman that attended the funeral. He was telling my mother how my grandfather was always an honest and honorable person and treated him and his coworkers with respect and he was there to return that respect. My grandfather raised my mother to live her life that way and she in turn raised me that same way. So tell me, how should I be judged? By the actions of my great-great grandfather, by my great grandfather or by my grandfather? According to your ignorant statement, I should be scorned because of my family history regardless of how I live my life now or my actions.

Not many slave holding families became Republicans. I'd like to see from what swamp rag you got that info. When it comes to slavery, in particular, chattel slavery, the Democratic party has a very well documented sordid past. That is undeniable. Gomert's amendment is no different than the attempts to remove Thomas Jefferson from our history because he owed slaves.
