Default Gotta love Louie Gohmert Representative R-TX

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) introduced a Privileged Resolution calling upon Congress to ban any political organization or party that has ever held a public position supportive of slavery or the Confederate States of America. It also calls for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to remove from the House wing of the U.S. Capitol or any House office building any item that names, symbolizes or mentions any political organization or party that supported slavery or the Confederacy. (Click Here to Voice Your Opinion)

“As outlined in the resolution, a great portion of the history of the Democratic Party is filled with racism and hatred. Since people are demanding we rid ourselves of the entities, symbols, and reminders of the repugnant aspects of our past, then the time has come for Democrats to acknowledge their party’s loathsome and bigoted past, and consider changing their party name to something that isn’t so blatantly and offensively tied to slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination, and the Ku Klux Klan," argued Rep. Gohmert.

Opponents argue this is nothing more than a ridiculous, political stunt that is going nowhere in Congress. It is a waste of time and energy when Congress should be dealing with more important issues, like COVID-19, the economy and the budget.

Yeah Democrats, Ya'll want to erase our racial/slavery history? OKAY then,,,; Let's tear down everything, including your stuff. Especially your stuff.

Forget that the War Between The States, AKA the Civil War, was over a noble cause.

Sure. Your stance on Hydroxy C is proof of the good intentions to hell with saving lives today. But how about a discussion of the subject???

The radical left wants all symbols of the Confederacy burned and removed. What is a bigger symbol of slaveholders and suppression of blacks than the champion party of the slave holding South who erected those very statues and rode the night with white supremacy capes and flaming crosses?

my stance? I'm not a doctor but doctors guide my actions in the matter. They tell me it is not worth the risk and hasn't yet had significantly positive trials.
yeah and the slave holding descendants moved to the republican party after civil rights was passed. we know.

So, what you are saying is that if a person's ancestors were guilty of something, by inference, those people are just as guilty? That seems to be your implication.

Perhaps then you should look at your family history and see if you are pure enough to have a valid opinion.

I can tell you that my great grandfather, was a plantation owner in North Carolina. He inherited the plantation from his father who had slaves prior to the Civil War. As he was raised in that environment, he did not treat the African Americans that were still working his plantation very well even after they obtained their freedom.

My grandfather became disgusted with their treatment and left home at the age of 16 and removed himself from that situation. He told his father he didn't want anything from him and would make his own way.

He took jobs for the railroads and eventually in the coal mines of West Virginia, working his way up to foreman and eventually mine superintendent. He had many people working for him and a good number of them black. He was known for always treating everyone fair regardless of race, which caused some issues with a few of the white racists that worked there.

When my grandfather died, there was a older black gentleman that attended the funeral. He was telling my mother how my grandfather was always an honest and honorable person and treated him and his coworkers with respect and he was there to return that respect. My grandfather raised my mother to live her life that way and she in turn raised me that same way.

So tell me, how should I be judged? By the actions of my great-great grandfather, by my great grandfather or by my grandfather? According to your ignorant statement, I should be scorned because of my family history regardless of how I live my life now or my actions.

And neither are the fact checkers at Facebook or Twitter. Yet they have no problem shutting down actual doctors that happen to have a differing opinion from the left wing that promote new, very expensive, unproven drugs as opposed to something that costs very little and has been on the market for decades. Open your eyes and see what is going on. You are a sheep being led to slaughter and are too blinded by your ideology to even see where you are headed.

And My doctor says different. In this country, that is how it is supposed to work.

Not many slave holding families became Republicans. I'd like to see from what swamp rag you got that info. When it comes to slavery, in particular, chattel slavery, the Democratic party has a very well documented sordid past. That is undeniable.

Gomert's amendment is no different than the attempts to remove Thomas Jefferson from our history because he owed slaves.
