Default Gas for less?

The nearby Exxon station today--July 4, as I write this--was selling regular gasoline for 10 cents per gallon less than it was just yesterday.

It is really hard for me to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Still, I have to wonder just why gasoline prices would be decreasing for holiday driving.

to get people out to buy gas. those companies have taken a gigantic hit. i heard they dumped some off shore [not confirmed] to keep from lowering prices to what the market would naturally demand at such a time.
but yeah a small marketing ploy would hep some.

and don't forget how many things are made with oil or manufactured using gas etc
you might pick up that impulse pack of hot dogs or Styrofoam cup of coffee/soda.

It went down another penny today (okay, so that is negligible), to $1.779 per gallon.

Of course, the holiday is now over. But so much, I suppose, for charging more for summertime driving...

Summer driving price gouging gone awry???? Nope.

Supply and demand on a system that must keep the oil flowing. Oil bought six months ago is just now going thru the system. Shut downs are costly. Restarts are worse.

Just wait till Christmas when low volume oil contracts bought now cannot fill the demand.

Me, I filled my storage tanks with $1.10 gasoline and $1.88 diesel.
