What he should have said was, "Yes, black lives matter" while nodding his head up and down and then offer a pause before continuing with "Absolutely"....

Then he could follow up with "All lives matter" and give reasons why we should be working together trying to find more common ground....

The problem is that when people say "Black lives Matter", they mean only black lives matter.
What happened to Mr Floyd was a sin, a crime, and a crying shame. It was worthy of protest for police brutality. But, three years prior a 19 year old man died the same way. No protests, no riots, and just now is any form of justice forthcoming. But he wasn't black, so his life didn't matter.

bad cops will pick on the powerless. homeless, minority, women, mentally ill, retarded...

Why for a special group? We should be demanding equal treatment for all who need it irregardless of their race, sex, wealth or religion. Police brutality and mistreatment affects everyone, not just blacks, not just poor, not just mentally ill.
