I'm kind of thinking that the US should remove most troops from western Europe (and elsewhere). They (Western Europe) are more than capable for their own defense of perceived danger. The US can always mobilize military force if our allies need it.

What if all the US overseas troops were eliminated and those same monies were used for universal healthcare, would you think the US president/congress that did that was a bastard?

Troops should be systematically removed from the around the world.

This has been a long ongoing, and long needed reduction. At one time the US had over 100,000 troops in Europe, mostly in Germany during peacetime. It has long since passed the time they needed to be withdrawn. Good for any president that reduces our European footprint.

I don't think Trump is getting much blow back from this move redd….

A small fraction might be whining but I think the majority don't have any problems with bringing troops back home...

I don't agree we need to get out of everywhere.

Some places our presence matters and some we do need to leave from sticking our noses where we don't belong.
I disagree we should just pull out of Germany. Or Korea for that matter. Or from protecting Israel (shield) but Afghanistan probably yes. South America or other American countries we should covertly protect but not let politicians mess with the basic governing unless a threat...

Why should US troops be in Germany?

This doesn't remove them all, about 25,000 will still remain. You are getting your panties in a knot over what? The fact that they are continuing to draw down troops in foreign nations, or the fact that Trump's name was connected to it?
