Sen. Rick Scott pushed back on Sunday against mostly blue-state governors and mayors who claim to have the authority to prevent citizens from attending in-person church services, saying that the Constitution’s First Amendment says otherwise.

In an interview with CNN, the Florida Republican said that he “trusts” Americans to “do the right thing” when it comes to protecting themselves during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“It doesn’t matter what a governor says or president or local leaders,” Scott told host Dana Bash.

“We have the Bill of Rights. We have a right to worship. We have a right to get together, and respect — and we need to respect people’s religions,” he added.

Trauma nurse Kacey Hansen, who has worked at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for over three decades, said she had “never seen” so many attempts, most being young adults. “I have never seen so much intentional injury . . . it’s upsetting.”

Northam was seen on the beach reviewing security at the beach without a face covering, local outlet NBC12 reported Saturday. The governor’s office later explained in a statement that Northam was “not expecting to be within six feet of anyone.”

“The Governor has repeatedly encouraged wearing face coverings inside or when social distancing is impossible,” Northam’s office said. “He was outside today and not expecting to be within six feet of anyone.”

Northam’s office said the governor “wanted to check beach enforcement and make sure they were following the rules, which they were largely.”

Photos posted on Twitter appear to show an unmasked Northam standing within six feet of other maskless people on the beach.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Add this hypocrisy to the list of Democrats doing the same,
like Chicago Mayor going to get her hair done while us peons are not allowed, the list goes on and on

There are many theories, most of them related in some way to the belief that the Left-wing media types and their Democrat masters were really cheering for an economic collapse or a monster virus death rate — or both — so they could pin them on that ‘oaf of a president’ and his party.

As such, it’s a bit surprising to see one mainstream outlet — NBC — actually reporting that a red state governor, Georgia’s Brian Kemp, has opened his state successfully so far.

“When Georgia became one of the first states to reopen back in April, many said it was too much, too soon, predicting a new surge in coronavirus cases. Now, exactly four weeks later, Blayne Alexander reports on whether Georgia’s gamble paid off,” said anchor Jose Diaz-Balart to kick off the Saturday evening segment.
