the lockdown lost because there has been no such thing.
even here in ohio where the restrictions that were implemented were wildly inconsistent.
i have continued to work as regularly scheduled.
i have continued to go to the store as needed - most of which have remained open.
the biggest change has been the inability to visit my mother in law in an assisted living facility despite the workers coming and going as they please; not being able to eat in at a restaurant; and my wife not being able to get her hair done by a professional.
most of what you see has been inconsistent overreactions by governors and their followers.
if the virus was that serious then an actual 100% lockdown/quarantine should have been implemented. but it wasn't.
and if wearing a mask actually worked then there would be no reason for even a partial/selective shutdown.

due to lack of leadership/ cohesive plan. where governors have stepped up and have relatively low traffic to and from their state the shelter /close orders have done a better job imho.
we see cases going down in ny because their governor has a plan.
idaho is doing well so far. gov here even has a 4 phase reopening plan
there are ass hats who don't understand the danger and push the envelope.
we only had one case in town till human resource lady at Fry Foods decided to have a party and invite people from out of state.
she's sick and the plant closed per the owner.

Yeah we all know his plan he implemented, he forced all the elderly Covid patients to go to the nursing homes after they were released from the hospitals. He's responsible for 25% of the covid deaths in New York

Thankfully, my home state--Tennessee--is largely re-opening next Tuesday (just five days from today, as I write this). (More precisely, it will be going into Phase 2 of the re-opening; among other things, restaurants will be permitted to serve customers at 75 percent of normal capacity.)

I like this. Very much, in fact.

Texas is in phase two and even some bars and gyms are opening up.....

It's past time to get the country running on all cylinders again, the damage has already been done.....

Lets get back to being America again as soon as possible....

my husband wears his mask when out. I hardly go out but wear a scarf when I do.
some don't and haven't since the get-go. but wearing a mask protects others from you. them wearing one protects you.

Quote:
Where Does Ron DeSantis Go to Get His Apology?

The Florida governor explains a COVID-19 strategy that has gotten bad press and favorable results.
A couple of months ago, the media, almost as one, decided that Governor Ron DeSantis was a public menace who was going to get Floridians killed with his lax response to the coronavirus crisis.

In an interview with National Review, DeSantis says he was surprised at “how knee-jerk” the hostile coverage was, but he “also knew that none of these people knew anything about Florida at all, so I didn’t care what they were saying.”

The conventional wisdom has begun to change about Florida, as the disaster so widely predicted hasn’t materialized. It’s worth delving into the state’s response — as described by DeSantis and a couple of members of his team — because it is the opposite of the media narrative of a Trump-friendly governor disregarding the facts to pursue a reckless agenda. DeSantis and his team have followed the science closely from the beginning, which is why they forged a nuanced approach, but one that focused like a laser on the most vulnerable population, those in nursing homes.

An irony of the national coverage of the coronavirus crisis is that at the same time DeSantis was being made into a villain, New York governor Andrew Cuomo was being elevated as a hero, even though the DeSantis approach to nursing homes was obviously superior to that of Cuomo. Florida went out of its way to get COVID-19-positive people out of nursing homes, while New York went out of its way to get them in, a policy now widely acknowledged to have been a debacle.

Cuomo is directly responsible for hundreds of deaths in NYC because of mandating covid positive patients go to nursing homes when released from the hospital. That is so cold hearted when he KNOWS that the elderly are the most high risk.

Some people will wear masks for the rest of their lives. I believe it is just a security blanket. I have not worn one. I have one in case I absolutely have to go somewhere that requires it. I refuse to make anything my "New Normal" that I don't want to.

‘Get out! ‘Get the f**k out!’ Angry mob of shoppers accosts maskless woman in NYC grocery store

A video capturing an angry mob setting upon a shopper who was in a grocery store without a mask is making the rounds online.

The store was identified online as a Staten Island Shoprite, and while that’s unclear, the fact that other shoppers are verbally attacking a woman without a mask is clear to see. The defiant appears to continue shopping in the 22-second clip.

“Get out! Get out!” a woman is heard shrieking, as the mob attempts to drive the lady from the store.

Another voice, from a male, can also be heard yelling, “Get the f*ck out!”

Surreal video: Defiant Michigan hair stylist clips away as cops are in her ear issuing verbal warning
May 25, 2020 | Tom Tillison

On Wednesday, May 20, an “Operation Haircut” protest took place at the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing, Michigan, calling on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to allow hair salons and barbershops to reopen during the coronavirus pandemic.

A number of stylists set up shop on the steps of the capitol and were defiantly given free haircuts, ignoring the Democrats’ stay-at-home orders, with one video from the day making the rounds online.

“This is funny as hell! Police officers read hair stylist her rights as she shaves a man’s head. This is in Whitmer’s Michigan,” read one tweet sharing the video.

Turns out, the video was taken by Lansing State Journal photojournalist Nick King, who identified the stylist as Brenda Root, of Swartz Creek, and she was being issued a verbal warning, not having her rights read to her.

According to the Detroit Free Press, about a dozen barbers and hair stylists took part in the protest, and seven were issued citations for disorderly conduct for engaging in an illegal occupation or business after being warned by state police.

The newspaper said the cases were referred to the state attorney general — who is a Trump-hating Democrat who threatened to “take action” against Ford if the company let the president tour a plant without wearing a mask.

The penalty for the citations is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail, a $500 fine, or both, the Free Press reported.

As for opening hair salons and barber shops, Whitmer is in no hurry, saying at a press conference Tuesday it was unlikely to happen any time soon.

“I would love to go to get my hair done, too. But the fact of the matter is, the nature of that personal service is such that it is intimate, it is close, you can’t social distance and get your hair cut,” Whitmer told WWMT. “That’s why it is important that we have all the protocols in place.”

The Democrat has been one of the most restrictive governors in America, dictating to stores what they can and cannot sell and even banning people from visiting family.

Operation Haircut was organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition

“Michigan’s small business owners are patriotic and law abiding citizens, but enough is enough,” co-founder Marian Sheridan said in a press release. “Our Governor’s actions show every day that this is no longer about the China virus. Her actions show this is now about a progressive radical agenda. Dope shops are open, abortion mills churn on, but barber shops are, somehow, unsafe. Show us that ‘science’ Governor!”

The organization said 750 free hair cuts were given, and that eight stylists overall were ticketed $1000 each — a GoFundMe page was set up and had collected $12,340 toward a goal of $25,000.

Of all the online responses, the following is perhaps the most appropriate, given the history hair stylists have played in the COVID-19 lockdown.

“Who would have ever thought that a hair clipper would be the sound of FREEDOM?! ‘Merica!” the tweet read.
