Default President Trump cancels trip to CDC over coronavirus fears

I'm a Trump supporter, but I think for one to be going around poo-pooing the severity of the virus, assuring the nation etc, THEN to cancel a trip to the Centers For Disease Control which would provide even further assurance would have been a good thing.
Thoughts?

It's a tough call Pop! On one hand you don't want to spread undue fear, on the other hand you want to do everything you possibly can to keep it from spreading.

I hear that Democrats want Trump to start visiting all the sick people.

There are risks and there are fears.

Recognizing risks allows you to manage them and keep yourself safe. Succumbing to fear, causes you to act in irrational and harmful ways.

Am I super worried about this virus? Am I going to sell off all my mutual funds? Am I going to quit going to work? Am I going to run around crying the sky is falling and we are facing the worse illness since the plague?

No, a resounding no.

Am I going to wash my hands multiple times a day for 20 seconds? Am I going pay attention to what I touch and make sure I'm not touching my eyes ears and mouth after handling something handled by others? Am I going to avoid events, large gatherings, and being in close quarters with other people? Am, I going to stay home from work if I'm not filling well? Am I going to stay away from places where I know people are sick or could be sick?

Yes absolutely, yes.

Trump has imposed a travel ban, assigned people to work on the issue, offered help to other countries more adversely affected, and signed an 8 billion dollar bill to address the virus. And yes, he briefly canceled a trip to the CDC where it was thought someone may have contracted the virus. Now that it's known they have not, that trip is back on. That is only prudent.

But, people are freaking out and they need to calm down. All the hysteria isn't helping anything and is frankly uncalled for.

It's back on...and it was NOT due to the virus itself...

Trump to visit CDC on Friday after reversing decision to cancel

Quote:
President Donald Trump will visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta on Friday, coming just hours after a White House official said the leg of his trip was canceled, citing the interference a trip may cause amid a growing coronavirus outbreak.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham confirmed the visit Friday morning. Earlier, a White House official said that the visit was scrapped because Trump did not want to be a distraction at the agency.

"The President is no longer traveling to Atlanta today," a White House official said. "The CDC has been proactive and prepared since the very beginning and the President does not want to interfere with the CDC's mission to protect the health and welfare of their people and the agency."

That's weird, cause I read another article that indicated it was thought someone at the CDC was at risk of having the virus and they had tested negative. Looking for it now. I really wish people could get their stories straight.

This is from the article you linked to:
Quote:
"We may go. They thought there was a problem at CDC, somebody that had the virus," Trump said in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House, during a signing of bill to spend more than $8 billion to fight the virus. Trump added that the person in question at the CDC has tested negative for the virus.

"They've tested the person very fully and it was a negative test," Trump said. "I may be going. They're going to see if they can turn it around with Secret Service.""

Pardon? Trump literally said that in regards to Obama during the Ebola outbreak.

You know, all things being the same, I believe if Obama was POTUS right now, the stock market would not be tanking, and everyone would have faith in our government to do all the right things, and we would be reassured that this will all come out OK.

Do you know why?

Does anyone remember? the rush to stock up on staples, and the huge stock market crash when this actual epidemic happened.

400 americans died in one day, Remember the media freaking everyone out?

Cases of H1N1 spread rapidly across the United States, with particularly severe outbreaks in Texas, New York, Utah, and California. Early cases were associated with recent travel to Mexico; many were students who had traveled to Mexico for Spring Break.[133] On May 4, 2009, the CDC reported one death, 286 confirmed cases of H1N1 flu across 36 states, 35 hospitalizations, and expects H1N1 to eventually spread to all states. A large number of cases, according to medics, have happened in the days that preceded the launch of the alert and came out only in these days due to a massive backlog.[134] By May 5, 2009, the number had risen to 403[120] and a second death was reported in Texas.[135] The CDC and government officials had expressed cautious optimism about the severity and spread of H1N1.[136][137]

The 2009 H1N1 outbreak reached epidemic levels of infection in 2009.

"I like the numbers being where they are. I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship" -- Trump explains that he doesn't want to let people off the Grand Princess cruise ship because he doesn't want the number of coronavirus cases in the country to go up

Trump defends gutting the federal government's pandemic preparedness over his first 3 years in office: "I just think this is something that you can never really think is going to happen."

It is insane that anyone thinks this clown is capable of doing this job.
