Donald Trump drops fight to get citizenship question on 2020 census; other federal records to be used

So he's going to comb through all your data. forget social media-this is 1984.

And he admits one reason he is doing this is to lower response to higher immigrant areas. That means if you are getting pulled out of a house that's drowning or on fire, there isn't any guarantee you are not a non-citizen leaving the citizen to drown or burn up; there will be fewer resources for that.

Another thing he says is it's to help determine eligible voters.
Well, most forms say you are not even obligated to answer the citizenship questions. A lot of them have a 'prefer not to answer' box. So this way of collecting data is going to be no more accurate than the citizenship census question.
I can see him stirring up his base with false statistics to claim the election is rigged.

Do you really think he will do what the Democrats have been doing for the past 2 1/2 years? I doubt he will stoop to their level.

The SCOTUS agreed in it's recent ruling that the government has the right to ask the question of citizenship. It disagreed with the lame excuses given. Meanwhile the Census needs to be taken and there is no time to return through the system of lower courts and then to the SCOTUS.

So now we must approach the issue with methods some say invade our privacy. I don't see it but the case will be made. Meanwhile the executive branch will proceed. At some point next year, and election year, we will find out the real number of noncitizens.

I believe the answers will effect the outcomes of 2020 elections negatively to the radical left. The victory the left thought it had won may turn out to be not so much. They should, perhaps, learn to be careful for what they wish.

The information that Trump wanted is already being provided based upon studies conducted every year and that have been conducted for decades.

But the "Citizenship" issue is far from over. AG Barr and Commerce Sect. Ross refused to turn over documents based upon a House subpoena and are facing civil prosecution for contempt of Congress.

There's also extensive evidence that Ross committed perjury in his testimony before the House that could result in his criminal prosecution. While unlikely under Trump's control of the DOJ that prosecution can occur in 2021 when a new president takes office.

The investigation will continue into the actual reasons behind the President's desire to have the citizenship question on the census. There's strong linkage to a desire for an undercount on the census that the Commerce Dept estimated would be 8 million people that are overwhelmingly Hispanic. There's also the desire by Republicans to have this information in the census because it makes political gerrymandering for them much easier.

So Commerce still has to turn over the documents to the House for their investigations and the outstanding contempt of Congress by Ross and Barr are still open. This is far from over for the Trump administration.

Based upon the corruption, brutality, inhumanity, immorality, dishonesty, and incompetence of the Trump administration the White House is the dirtiest house in America and there's no known cleanser that with remove the stains of the Trump Administration.

The federal government already knows the real number of citizens and non-citizens. This information is determined by sampling and surveys every year and it's very accurate.

The process for adding or deleting questions from the census form already exists and it takes about three years where the impact is studied before a decision is reached. That was the problem with Trump's proposal for the citizenship question because it failed to follow the process necessary to add the question.

Remember this. The citizenship question was last included in the census in 1950 and was removed in 1960 because it was corrupting an accurate count of the people.

The accurate count takes precedent over any and all questions that could be put on the census because an accurate count is a Constitutional requirement.

The Commerce Dept estimated that adding the citizenship question would result in an undercount of about 8-9 million (predominately Hispanic) people and that alone is enough to keep it from being added to the census form.
