New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) has heavily criticized President Donald Trump's immigration agenda and the administration's overall response to the border crisis.

In February, she condemned what she called Trump's "charade of border fear-mongering" and announced she was withdrawing most of the New Mexico National Guard troops deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border in her state.

"I reject the federal contention that there exists an overwhelming national security crisis at the Southern border," Lujan Grisham said, according to NPR.

Her comments came just more than one week before Trump declared a national emergency in response to the overwhelming migrant crisis at the border.

But now, more than three months after her public campaign of opposition against the Trump administration, Lujan Grisham is seeking the federal government's assistance to manage the impacts of the border crisis on New Mexico.

The imbecile needs Trump's help to alleviate the border situation, so she can safely transform New Mexico into a sanctuary state. Anybody want to chime in?

She is seeking reimbursement for aid to migrants Trump dropped off in her communities:

SANTA FE – Financial and logistical support for border communities coping with an influx of asylum-seeking migrants are on the agenda as the governor of New Mexico traveled Tuesday to Washington to meet with federal officials.

On Monday, Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham met with local leaders in Las Cruces to discuss reimbursement for money they're spending to shelter and care for immigrants.

The two-day visit to the nation's capital by Lujan Grisham included a meeting with acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan.

Lujan Grisham is advocating for federal reimbursements to communities as they provide humanitarian relief to migrant families.

On Tuesday, she also announced that the state will offer grants to reimburse local government agencies that provide humanitarian aid to migrants. State lawmakers recently set aside $2.5 million for border security. The governor’s office declined to specify how much money is available.

"It is our duty as a state, in the absence of a comprehensive shift in strategy and personnel deployment on the part of the federal government, to accommodate and facilitate the needs of both these asylum seekers and the local communities where they are being released,” Lujan Grisham said in a letter to Republican state lawmakers, who have criticized her approach to immigration pressures.

Democrat-led cities including Las Cruces and Albuquerque have embraced humanitarian relief efforts, while the Sierra County Commission approved a resolution Tuesday that opposes the relocation of migrants within county boundaries, citing the area’s own impoverished circumstances and the potential for migrants to get stranded in towns that don’t have bus, rail or commercial flight service.

Both Luna County Commissioners and Deming City officials have unanimously approved emergency declarations due to the influx of immigrants but have embraced relief efforts since the first migrant drop-off on Sunday, May 12.

he caused a crisis by 1 not preparing for asylum seekers he knew were on their way years before they got here, and 2 just dropping them off in her communities and finally 3, not recognizing the humanitarian crisis that would arise if he did no preparation.

Once again, another friendly reminder from Manitou about posting random blather.

So now there is a crisis, and Trump caused it? I don't remember Trump inviting the south of the border d**kh**ds to come here in caravans expecting and demanding asylum status instantly.

Democrats refused to approve funding for a wall after years of support for border barriers. Denied there is a crisis at the border simply to spite the President. Passed a budget sharply reducing the number of available beds for the border patrol to house illegal crossers. Refused to participate in reforming asylum laws or the 21 day limit on holding minor children.

Trump recently proposed a package of reforms to deal with the ongoing crisis. Nancy Pelosi rejected it as dead on arrival. Democrats would rather play politics than solve problems.

Hopefully Trump tells her to fuck off. If she wants her state to be a sanctuary state then she can live with the consequences of that.

and turns out it wasn't necessary. we just spent 1 and a half billion on less than 2 miles of REPAIR. open your ears. we needed humanitarian planning and political planning and foreign policy negotiation none of which trump knows how to do or even ordered some competent person to do.

None of which happened for 8 years of Bush 42 nor 8 years of Obama 44. Neither did Clinton.
The only president who has tried to actually do something I the last 26 years has been hampered at every turn. Why are we asking his motives? I want to know the motive of those who have shown they want the porous border problem to remain unsolved. Shouldn't we be asking the previous leadership why they made promises every election and did nothing?
