I really hate to say this, but I believe AOC WANTS a system where people die before they can get proper care...Every person dying before getting processed is money saved, and works as an unintended death panel without actually coming out and having an official death panel...

The old system cared mostly for the vast amount from WWII and Vietnam. The application process hadn't been upgraded since probably Korean War days. There were cut backs under one administration/congress. And more money under other politicians and POTUS's. The Veterans Affairs was made a part of the cabinet, probably in the hopes that would rectify some things. Meanwhile we got fresh crops of sick troops coming home from new wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, now Syria and such outposts. The back log wasn't dealt with head on until Obama. As I have stated many times, there was a back log and effort to deny in the 70's when my fnl applied even though he had a kidney shot through during WWII.
What we have isn't perfect but it's far better than it was. We have had coordination with private medical services wherever and whenever needed for years now. They talk about that like it's a new thing. It's not for many years now. The care has always been excellent till fairly recently, and whistle blowers closed down some bad hospitals, fired everyone in some.
Health care itself has undergone changes during all this time too. More modern.
It's still not perfect but very good and worthy of praise.

I really hate to think that some policy wonks on your side of the aisle want people to die before they get care and bolster their insurance lobbyists by allowing these inferior policies again. I searched through some today for a lady who has no insurance because she works and makes around $7000.00 a year. She paid out of pocket to go to a quick clinic who gave her the minimum prescriptions and treatment not for long term because again they know she won't be able to follow through having no insurance. Would that she had the care my veteran husband has.

From the examples of the USSR, to China, to Cuba, to Venezuela, this is how socialism works. When your government does not have enough resources to take care of you, they simply let you die. Under socialism, where the government controls all things, you have no other choices.
