Record 156,795,000 Employed in USA, 13th Record-Breaker Under Trump

By Susan Jones | December 7, 2018 | 8:41 AM EST

(CNSNews.com) - The November employment report, released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, shows the economy added 150,000 jobs, well below the (revised) 237,000 added last month.

But the unemployment rate held steady at 3.7 percent for the third month in a row; and the number of employed Americans once again reached an all-time high of 156,795,000, the 13th record since Donald Trump became president.

Wages continued rising as well: In November, average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls rose by 6 cents to $27.35. Over the year, average hourly earnings have increased by 81 cents, or 3.1 percent.

Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (3.3 percent), adult women (3.4 percent), teenagers (12.0 percent), Whites (3.4 percent), Blacks (5.9 percent), Asians (2.7 percent), and Hispanics (4.5 percent) showed little or no change in November.

The 5.9 percent unemployment rate for blacks matches the record low set in May. The November unemployment rate for Hispanics is just a tenth of a point higher than the record low of 4.4 percent.

On the negative side, the labor force participation rate remained stubbornly high.

In November, the nation’s civilian non-institutionalized population, consisting of all people age 16 or older who were not in the military or an institution, reached 258,708,00. Of those, 162,770,000 participated in the labor force by either holding a job or actively seeking one.

The 162,770,000 who participated in the labor force equaled 62.9 percent of the 258,514,000 civilian non-institutionalized population. The participation rate has showed little change since Trump took office. The highest it's ever been is 67.3 percent in the year 2000.

The number of Americans not in the labor force -- meaning they do not have a job and are not currently looking for one -- was 95,937,000 last month, near its all-time high. This number includes the growing number of Baby Boom retirees.

The Labor Department says job gains have averaged 170,000 a month over the last 3 months.
The Democrats in Congress and the Trump hater's put their hatred of President Trump before the good of America's citizens. They are evil and corrupt in my my opinion.

Reminds me of the time that Trump claimed that the real unemployment rate was around 40%, because he's too stupid to understand what the labor force participation rate actually represents.

Reminds me of all the times that Leftists deflect when provided with ample evidence of how good our economy has been doing under Trump. You leftists
won't be satisfied until get the economy back to crummy way it was under Barack. You don't care about your fellow citizen's, you just care about your hatred.

The economy has basically followed precisely the same course it was on the day Trump took office, until it has started to show initial signs of slowing down in the last few months. To call the current economy "good" and the economy "crummy" under Obama is head-in-the-sand idiocy. That was precisely what I was getting at with my prior comment in this thread. The economic statistics Trump totally misrepresented as claimed evidence of a failing economy under Obama are functionally identical to the statistics Trump and his supporters are citing today as proof of his success.

If that's true, why did the feds refuse to raise interest rates under Obama?

They told us every time that the economy could not handle it, that it was too fragile.

When the feds do not have a positive outlook for the economic future, they do NOT raise rates. Out of 32 meetings they only raised rates ONE TIME. a 1/4 %.

Remember, the recession was over in 2009. So that old excuse doesn't fly

How many times have they raised it since Trump was elected?

Employment growth has been nearly perfectly steady since around 2011.

The idea Trump somehow "saved" the economy is ludicrous.

So why did the Feds tell us every 3 months under Obama that the economic future was so bleak? In 8 years they could only raise rates 1/4%

Remember Obama saying that 1-2% growth was the new normal?

The reason he said that was because he was setting Hillary up for more of the same.

Because they didn't say that.

No. He never said it was the new normal, nor was he referring to percentages of GDP growth. Only that there was a danger that it might become that in regards to the unemployment situation. In fact here's the actual quote.

Quote:
On unemployment: “What is a danger is that we stay stuck in a new normal where unemployment rates stay high. People who have jobs see their incomes go up. Businesses make big profits, but they’ve learned to do more with less. And so they don’t hire. And, as a consequence, we keep on seeing growth that is just too slow to bring back the eight million jobs that were lost. That is a danger. So, that’s something that I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about.”

https://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2010/...l-for-economy/
He was warning against the possibility of a mediocre "new normal", not declaring to be a thing that we should get used to.

Wait, so he said a made-up quote in 2010 in order to set Hillary up six years down the road?
