I agree. Saudi Arabia is a barbaric Islamic country, and we shouldn't be allied with a country that promotes such terrible human rights abuses of women, gays, and anyone else Muslims don't like.

Criticizing Obama isn't defending Trump.

Also the nuclear deal did work, and it wasn't standing with them over America as Trump just pulled with the Saudis. I think most people would be rightly argue that an Iran without nuclear weapons would be in our interest, and Israel's.

This was a very close call, I think: It pits our values against our interests.

As concerning the latter, I am not thinking especially about the oil that we purchase from Saudi Arabia (we really should be energy-independent, I believe); or even our arms sales to the Saudis.

But Saudi Arabia does serve as a very good counterweight to Iran, as the dominant player in the Middle East.

Yet to virtually ignore the murder of Jamal Khasoggia does seem to undermine the moral authority on which this country tends to rely.

On balance, I think that I would have been a bit tougher on the Saudis; but not so tough as to irreparably rupture our relationship with them.

Just my thoughts.

Unfortunately, none of this addresses the fact that I find most important (by far!); and that is the fact that Saudi Arabia acts as a counterweight to Iran.

This looks like just more (rather promiscuous) Trump bashing...

Look at the big, big, big picture...China kills journalists, bloggers, dissidents and people that look at the government the wrong way, on a weekly basis, and no one lifts a finger or bats an eye...

In fact, every time Trump hits them economically, everyone runs to their keyboards to holler at him...

We...deal...with...some...top...tier...a$$holes... .Always have...Always will...

...and we will CONTINUE to deal with some top tier a$$holes when it's in OUR country's best interest over a "benevolent leader" of a foreign land when it's NOT...

Oh for ****s sake! Saudi Arabia kills people for atheism, homosexuality, adultery,blasphemy and other things that would not be a crime in most countries. But we are supposed to care now because they killed a journalist? As far as I know you and the rest of the left never gave two ****s what innocent people Saudi Arabia kills. Other than the fact you loath Trump what reason do you care now that Saudi Arabia killed an innocent person despite not giving a **** before? Are journalists some sort of saints, royalty or elite that shouldn't be killed but its okay if the common man is killed?

I see libs and the MSM are pretending we don't do any big business with Saudi.

As much as I hate Saudi, it's best not to jeopardize billions of dollars and risk oil prices.

But I already predicted libs and the media would try and pretend there's no consequences to us doin' somethin' harsh to Saudi.
