The McCain ranch is only about 10 miles from where I live and McCain was well know personally by many of the long time locals in the Verde Valley.

I didn't always agree with John McCain's politics but there was never a question about McCain being honorable and dedicated to serving the United States.

RIP John McCain

Based upon the corruption, brutality, inhumanity, immorality, dishonesty, and incompetence of the Trump administration the White House is the dirtiest house in America and there's no known cleanser that with remove the stains of the Trump Administration.

yes I was all in for him for President in 2008 till it appeared (through outside evil forces) he had lost control of his own campaign message.

While trucking we had encountered his 2000 campaign bus driver going through credit cards trying to find more to pay for fuel. I was amazed that I knew he could win both Democrat and Republican votes, and also knew that for some reason he wasn't with the "in" crowd of the RNC for big donations.

And I didn't know-because he didn't brag about it- till during his 2018 campaign and even then someone else brought it out- how faith lead him through a lot of his time in enemy prison. Some of the anecdotes I read from others' knowledge of his time there was very poignant.

And he was enamored of the -finally- leaderesque President Reagan as was I.
Although his loyalty to the man never shifted as mine did, I had a sort of untouchable comradery with the man? I "got him." And that get was similar to my own love of my country all through Vietnam and everything that transpired before and after right up to today.

John McCain will be the 13th former senator to lie in state at the Capitol Rotunda, and will have a full dress funeral service at the National Cathedral.

Mr. McCain, who served for two decades in the Navy after graduating from the Naval Academy and who represented Arizona in Congress for 35 years, will also lie in state at the Arizona Capitol before his burial in Annapolis, Md., a Republican official involved in the planning said.

The senator’s office said an official memorial schedule would be announced once funeral arrangements were finalized.

Quote:
More than 30 people have been honored by lying in state in the Capitol Rotunda, a gesture reserved for the country’s “most eminent citizens,” since the practice began in 1852 after the death of Henry Clay, the former House speaker and senator from Kentucky. Mr. McCain would be the 13th former senator to be granted the honor, according to the Architect of the Capitol.

Such remembrances in the Capitol are either formally approved by congressional resolution or authorized by the congressional leadership, according to the Architect of the Capitol.
