Once again, Bernie proves that everybody else is responsible for some people's lives.

Not that I'm any fan of Bezos, but lets be realistic about the ultimate goal here.

Let me see. The private companies pay a 100 percent tax on what the government passes out to recipients. The government leeches then distribute that money among themselves, thus enriching themselves and their cronies, and evening out the books. What a racket! Nobody will ask where the surplus went.

I think that Ron White said it best, "You can't fix stupid." And that is exactly what this is.

The solution, Bernie, that is if you are not a socialist who believes all wealth flows to and from the government, is not to tax the corporations more, but rather to reduce compensation the government pays.

No good ever comes to wealth flowing to the government for redistribution.

If you have that kind of income, I believe you should pay your employees a living wage. How we got off the track of owning that I don't know, but this country is not a slave state. And Bezos is not the owner of a plantation in 1836 Georgia. So let's get real here.

And if you decide to open a business, by all means pay your employees whatever you are comfortable with, or market rate, whichever you prefer, or both.

Government has no business in business. And conversely, the purpose of business is not to act as a social arm of government. Why is that so difficult to understand?

Two questions, Salty:

Do you have any idea what a slave is? Hint: It's not someone who voluntarily accepts a wage offered. And 2:

Do you have any idea why US jobs are going elsewhere? Hint #2: It's not because US minimum wage is too low.

By all means let the businesses pay starvation wages, just don't ask the government for anything like maintaining roads or implementing any kind of projection that stops utilities from jacking up their bills as they see fit. Oh and don't ask the police for protection when their workers form lynch mobs and kill the owners of those businesses.

I can see that you are not interested in actual debate, just wild, hysterical speculation.

That would be due to globalist scum in office who toss the salad of big business. They lowered tariffs enough that it would be profitable enough to exploit dirt cheap labor, lack of worker safety and environmental laws and ship those goods to the US. This enabled countries like China to build up it's military at the expense of American workers. Which will one day be a threat to our country as a whole.

So now the employer is responsible for making sure the employee has enough money support their lifestyle?

Let's see, what is the basic cost of living in NYC?
What is the basic cost of living in BFE, Kentucky?

Cadillac versus 10 year old Mazda. 2 bedroom apartment versus 3 bedroom house. WalMart jeans versus haute couture.

At what point is someone else not responsible for a persons level of living?

Not a slave state? Exactly what do you think would happen to businesses with more than 500 employees, as Bernie's proposal would demand? How long before that 'living wage' causes inflation, and it no longer has the buying power that it did when it first was instituted, and people are back to the same place they were before?
