Is that true?

I like President Trump; and I really thought that he would get the better of Kim Kong Un.

But I will have to say that I am a bit disappointed.

True, we did get the remains of servicemen from about 65 years ago. And we also got the cessation of North Korean testing of nuclear weapons.

But there is an old saying: One simply does not reward bad behavior. No exceptions.

To sell out South Korea, as we did--President Trump even described our war games with them as "provocative"--was, in effect, a reward to North Korea for ceasing its bad behavior.

My own preferred carrot-and-stick approach would have been as follows:

"By giving up your nuclear weapons, you can begin trading with the US and other developed nations.

"By giving up your nukes, you can have your regime's continued existence assured.

"And by giving up your nukes, you will obviate the possibility--no, the very strong probability--that a missile will soon land in your own living room."

And I would have meant it.

Every word of it.

It's okay PJ, there isn't any joint U.S./ S.K. military exercises scheduled until Spring of next year. We'll know in a couple of months if rocket man is serious and if he isn't the exercises will be rescheduled I bet.

I remember the last time a US President sat down and talked with the leader of North Korea face to face and and came to an agreement.
It was never.

True.

There is, perhaps, one other saving grace here: This was not done by mere fiat (i.e. as an Executive Order), but will be submitted to the Senate for approval...

I am most shocked about the intention to stop the war games. We have other interests in the region who I'm sure feel safer with those.
Are we getting rid of our base? Just wondering and don't remember from the speech.

It's not over, just a mild start. The fat boy isn't even warming up. The reality
is President Trump engineered a meeting. This hasn't happened in 70 years. No cash changed hands. There is new foreign policy in town.

I think that is what will happen.

You have to be careful with these man-child types. You have to work them a little different. Gotta make them feel like a big man while you slowly pull the rug out from under them.

Yeah, sure totally idiotic for at least one important reason, China won't stand for a preemptive strike. You want Chinese help, then you have to account for them. Trump really didn't give him much at all, a handshake and the possibility of a brighter future. He didn't promise to remove troops, only implied he's like to, and no joint operations exercise which doesn't really matter that much. He has to give up his nukes, or we go back to the status quo of him living in a ****hole under a cloud of doom. No sanctions removed at all.
