Default Christian group barred from Amazon charity program, but anti-Semitic, terrorist group

Ya ever read a headline and think, "There's no way that can possibly be true."

Nothin' quite like the SPLC dictating to your company who is and isn't a hate group.

If I wasn't addicted to Amazon I would boycott 'em.

Christian group barred from Amazon charity program, but anti-Semitic, terrorist groups allowed in

Alliance Defending Freedom, a prominent Christian legal group, is barred from participating in the Amazon Smile charitable program, the Daily Caller reported. Through the program, nonprofit organizations can recoup a small amount of what their supporters spend on Amazon.

The ADF specializes in First Amendment law and has won cases at the Supreme Court level. Although ADF cannot participate, Amazon grants access to an anti-Semitic Islamic group that has allegedly called for the killing of all Jewish people. Groups with reported ties to Middle Eastern terrorist organizations are also allowed in.

How are these decisions made?

The non-profit cannot participate because the liberal Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled it a “hate group.” Amazon’s participation agreement bars groups that promote hate or intolerance.

And the SPLC defines for Amazon what is a hate group.

“All nonprofits are eligible as long as they meet our participation agreement,” an Amazon spokesperson told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “As a part of that participation agreement, we also state that Amazon relies on the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control and the Southern Poverty Law Center to determine which charities are eligible.”

Michael Farris, CEO of ADF, wrote in a letter to Amazon that he was “surprised and disappointed” to find out his group could no longer be involved. He accused Amazon of giving too much authority to the SPLC, which has a history of calling conservative groups “hate groups” and “extremists.”

What have the anti-sematic groups said?

The spokesperson declined to answer the Daily Caller News Foundation’s questions about whether it’s a conflict of interest for the SPLC be both a member of the Amazon Smile program and decide whether others can participate.

Depending on the group, the same standards do not seem to apply.

The Islamic Center of Jersey City is a participant in Amazon Smile, even though the organization’s imam has called Jewish people “apes and pigs.” Further, the imam has called for Allah’s help in killing all Jews, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

The Islamic Society of North America also participates in Amazon Smile. Yet a federal court ruling in 2009 stated the U.S. government found evidence that it allegedly has connections to the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, the report stated. Additionally, the Islamic Society has been linked to Jamaat-e-Islami, radical Pakistani group.

Among others, a Nation of Islam affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts, is involved in Amazon Smile, according to the report. That group has blamed Jews in the media for attacks on black people such as Michael Jackson and Bill Cosby.

Not an accurate representation of a white person.

Founded by some 30 leaders of the Christian Right, the Alliance Defending Freedom is a legal advocacy and training group that has supported the recriminalization of homosexuality in the U.S. and criminalization abroad; has defended state-sanctioned sterilization of trans people abroad; has linked homosexuality to pedophilia and claims that a “homosexual agenda” will destroy Christianity and society. ADF also works to develop “religious liberty” legislation and case law that will allow the denial of goods and services to LGBT people on the basis of religion. Since the election of President Donald Trump, the ADF has become one of the most influential groups informing the administration’s attack on LGBT rights working with an ally in Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

JERSEY CITY — A imam in New Jersey called Jews in Israel "apes and pigs" during a sermon and asked for Allah's help to kill them "down to the very last one."
Islamic Center of Jersey City
Imam Aymen Elkasaby made the pronouncement while delivering a khutbah, or sermon, at the Islamic Center of Jersey City on Friday during the same week President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. Embassy in Israel would move to the country's capital city of Jerusalem, according to a report by the Middle East Forum.

He called it a "religious obligation" for his followers to regain control of the area surrounding the Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of the holiest sites in Islam, which is located in Jerusalem's Old City. The mosque is on the Temple Mount, which also is considered holy by Jews and Christians. The site and the Old City are one of the most contested religious controversies in the world.

According to the video, which was posted by Middle East Forum and translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, he called Israel the "most cowardly of nations (and the) weakest of all peoples."

"Allah, make us among your armies.... Allah, we ask you to grant us martyrdom on the threshold of Al-Aqsa Mosque.... Count them one by one, and kill them down to the very last one. Do not leave a single one on the face of the Earth," Elkasby says, according to the translation.
The Forum's stated mission is to promote American interests in the Middle East and protect western values from Middle Eastern threats. The website and the translating service have been criticized for being biased in favor of Israeli government interests.
Jersey City has one of the largest populations of Muslims in the state.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, President Donald Trump said he saw thousands of Muslims cheering as the World Trade Center towers fell on Sept. 11, 2001. Trump even tweeted an excerpt from a 2001 Washington Post story reporting on rooftop parties. The claim was debunked by many sources.

Messages to the Islamic Center of New Jersey were not immediately returned Thursday.

A city spokeswoman said Thursday that there "is no place for intolerance among the hundreds of thousands of diverse residents who call Jersey City home."

I've never purchased a thing from Amazon and I don't intend to.
