Default Students hold Second Amendment rally to counter walkout pushing for stricter gun laws

Quote:
Students in Colorado who support the Second Amendment staged their own walkout Wednesday, in an effort to counter the pro-gun control rallies taking place across the nation following the deadly shooting at a Florida high school in February.

Students at Woodland Park High School, an hour north of Pike’s Peak, began the 30-minute pro-Second Amendment rally with a moment of silence for victims of past school shootings.

“I don’t believe that guns are the problem,” said student Haley Armstead. “I think it's more of the people and that people are trying to blame an inanimate object for something that's not them.”

Another student, Christian Garcia, told FOX 21 more armed officers and trained teachers would “stop” or “prevent” further school shootings.

While student-organized and with no affiliation to the high school, the school district did allow the students to walk out and provided increased security through the police department.

The rally comes days after students in Central Florida organized a similar protest in support of the Second Amendment after they felt silenced when the movement to honor the Parkland shooting victims turned political.

It's nice to see students using one right to defend another, as opposed to using one right to ask gov't to infringe upon another.

Damned right wing Nazis, wanting their unalienable and constitutionally enshrined rights respected and protected. Who the fuq do they think they are?

I am darn proud of them.

I hate to see this happen...Two wrongs don't make it right...

The only positive I see is that the district was fair in letting both sides stage a walkout, but to be honest, there should've been NO walkouts...

This is school...Protest on your own time...

The founders of the "Never Again" movement that started in Parkland FL are not proposing any violations to the Second Amendment.

Based upon the corruption, brutality, inhumanity, immorality, dishonesty, and incompetence of the Trump administration the White House is the dirtiest house in America and there's no known cleanser that with remove the stains of the Trump Administration.

The US Supreme Court has declared the right of student to protest a Constitutional right.

What's confusing is why these students were protesting when the Never Again movement isn't proposing any infringements upon the Second Amendment

So you think the AR-15 belongs only to the military and police, eh?

Banning all semi autos is not a violation of the second amendment?

Anti-gun rights people have for nearly 75 years argued that the 2nd Amendment only covers militia arms. They were right but not in the way they intended

So, IMNSHO bans on semi-auto, detachable magazine guns (such as the AR-15) will not survive full examination by SCOTUS because such "arms" meet ALL prongs of the criteria established by SCOTUS for 2nd Amendment protection:

The arm in question must be of a type that constitutes the ordinary military equipment and that can be employed advantageously in the common defense of the citizens and/or of a type in common use by the general citizenry at the time.
