Teachers should be docked pay for the time they weren't teaching and written up for an unexcused absence. That's what would happen if I walked out of my job.
Instead the kid gets written up for trying to actually learn something in school. And that's what we've arrived at.

I'm fine with kids speaking their minds and excersizing their rights. If they beileve that strongly about abortion go for it. I think it's great when anyone regardless of age wants to get involved in political activism. If you beileve in it that much, go fight for it and talk to other people about. As long as it's not hate or racist or just some people trying to just piss people off and troll. Nothing but good can come from people getting off the internet and meeting people in real life with different opinions and different life experiences.
Teachers jobs are to teach. If they can teach something outside of a classroom doesn't mean the aren't doing their jobs. There are some lessons afforded to us in our society simply because history gave us the opportunity to learn something from it. Education isn't all about algebra and science.
Dismiss these kids at your own peril, they'll be running the world eventually.
