Oh boy just give it to us. Didn't you watch the gif? It's right there.

I don't even remember what I typed something like "who is on welfare".

It said women and children. This is all so silly tho isn't it? Neither one of us would begrudge a needy citizen of government assistance. We help each other when we can. I know youve dropped a fiver into to a homeless dudes cup once or twice. The reality is yes some people are able to abuse the system. I'm ok with that because it does help people who need it. And it's not like it costs much. I pay my taxes and it gets sent to things I don't like also. But helping my fellow Americans isn't one of them.

The problem with your argument is that you see the government as some benevolent, charitable organization. That is NOT the intent of the founders and is not chartered in the Constitution. The government exists to maintain law and order and provide for national defense. That is it, period, nothing else.

Forcing me to pay taxes that are then distributed to people that those in power deem needy, is not charity, it is wealth redistribution. It encourages laziness and abuse. As the welfare roles increase, the ability to properly discern between those that need assistance and those abusing the system, is too overwhelming and encourages even more abuse.

Charity is the duty of private citizens and organizations. It is best served at a local level where people are encouraged to first attempt to help themselves and only then are they given assistance if needed. I know that our church routinely helps families in any way they can. From helping with groceries to making a rent or house payment for someone that recently lost a job or hit an unexpected bump in the road.

I know this personally as about 5 years ago, I spent 2 months in the hospital and could not work. Our pastor offered to pay our mortgage payment while I was off work. Fortunately, I was in a well enough financial position that I did not need the assistance and I politely declined suggesting that there were others in more of need than myself and my family.
