At least 27 people have been killed inside a Texas church - including a two-year-old child - after a gunman dressed in full combat gear opened fire during the morning service before cops shot him dead. The shooting happened at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, where around 50 people usually attend service, according to local reports. Wilson County Commissioner Albert Gamez Jr told CNN that at least 27 people have been killed in the shooting, but the death toll is expected to climb. 'My heart is broken,' Gamez said. 'We never think where it can happen, and it does happen. It doesn't matter where you're at. In a small community, real quiet and everything, and look at this, what can happen.'

At least 24 others were injured in the horrific shooting. Witnesses said a man 'in full gear' walked inside the church and opened fire just before 11.30am. First Baptist Church Pastor Frank Pomeroy told ABC that his 14-year-old daughter is among the dead. She 'was one very beautiful, special child,' the pastor said. A woman wrote on Facebook that she saw the man flee the scene in his vehicle before crashing it not far from her daughter's house. She said he then ran on foot and was pursued by police.

The shooter was killed after the brief foot chase into Guadalupe County, according Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office spokesman Robert Murphy. But it's still unclear if the gunman shot himself or was taken down by authorities. The suspect, who has not been identified, is dead and there is no longer an active shooter threat, according to police. Police could not give an exact number of victims shot in the attack, but witnesses said they heard as many as 20 shots fired. Dana Fletcher, who owns a store in Sutherland Springs, told CNN: 'It's just awful...there were emergency responders everywhere.'

Neighbors in the area said they may have heard the shooter reload multiple times. Another witness at the scene said a two-year-old was also shot in the attack. Sutherland Springs is a rural community in Wilson County, Texas, that's made up of about 400 people. It's located about 30 miles southeast of San Antonio. Some residents fear that the gunman is someone they know becuase their community is so small. First responders were seen working to remove bodies from inside the church. Texas Congressman Vicente Gonzalez told MSNBC that officials 'won't have final numbers until probably a few more hours'. He added that 'apparently the shooter was not from the area, he was from outside of that area'.

This is a fact, but not a verified reason as of yet...

The state's attorney general, Ken Paxton, pointed out on CNN that shooting occurred eight years to the day of the Nov. 9, 2009, shooting at Fort Hood where U.S. Army major Nidal Hasan, a U.S. Army major, fatally shot 13 people and injured more than 30 others.

Dude was court martial a few years ago from the Air Farce.

Also, libs are wasting no time makin' this political.

Chelsea is total pig.

Chelsea Handler has already blamed the GOP for Texas church shooting ? and the backlash is brutal – TheBlaze

Quote:
The details surrounding a church shooting in Texas are still very murky, but that didn’t stop comedian Chelsea Handler from propagating anti-Second Amendment, anti-GOP propaganda.

“Innocent people go to church on Sunday to honor their God, and while doing so, get shot in killed. What country? America. Why? Republicans.” Handler tweeted.

Shooter was shot by an armed citizen, dropped his rifle and drove away. Crashed his vehicle and was found dead. We will learn if the citizen's bullet did him in or he finished himself off.

First Chelsea Handler makes a disgusting comment 'bout the church shooting, and now Wil Wheaton throws his ass-hat into the ring.

WTF is wring with these douche-boxes?

Wil Wheaton angers people of faith with furious tweet at Paul Ryan | Fox News

Quote:
On Sunday, in the midst of news coming out about the situation in Sutherland Springs, Texas, the 45-year-old star responded to House speaker Paul Ryan’s note of condolence on Twitter.

“Reports out of Texas are devastating. The people of Sutherland Springs need our prayers right now,” Ryan wrote.

“The murdered victims were in a church. If prayers did anything, they’d still be alive, you worthless sack of sh--,” the star wrote in a reply tweet.
