"It's such a black-and-white, polarized situation that you have to stand with the base here who uses Trump as the enemy."
Perhaps this is the central issue: The left sees those with whom they disagree as "the enemy."
It is really very difficult to see any difference between this and the bitterness that inspired the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, 100 years ago...
