Sanders asserts ‘thousands’ will die from Obamacare repeal, but refuses to offer evid

The sky is falling!!!!!

Instead of exaggerating and fear-mongering, Sanders can discuss why he pays half the tax rate as Trump.

Sanders asserts ‘thousands’ will die from Obamacare repeal, but refuses to offer evidence – TheBlaze

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said if Republicans in Congress vote to repeal and replace Obamacare, then “thousands of Americans will die.” But when asked Wednesday by CNN’s Jake Tapper where that statistic came from, Sanders refused to say.

“If you are old and you have no health insurance, if you’re 55, 60 years of age and you have no health insurance and you’re sick, you will die. You may die because you can’t get to a doctor when you should,” Sanders said Wednesday on “The Lead.”

Tapper asked Sanders Wednesday to reveal where he got the estimate that “thousands” will die if Obamacare is repealed — and it seems as though either Sanders didn’t know, or just refused to say.

I think that Sen. Sanders may be confusing healthcare with healthcare insurance...

24 million people would their insurance under the Republican plan. Don't tell me exactly zero of them are using their health insurance right now so they can afford to stay alive. It's reasonable assume that some of folks who would lose their coverage wouldn't be able to afford treatment for life-threatening chronic conditions and would die as a result.

But it's okay because tax cuts.

Did those 24 million have insurance before Obama care? By what rights do they expect to gain it?

I know of none.

No...

24 million would be taken off of the roles of ObamaCare and GIVEN A CHOICE to other healthcare plans, which an overwhelming majority will go on and only the gamblers will not (and then complain about it)...::yes

let me explain something you may not know. people without insurance through their employer or seniors not yet 65 and not disabled, got to choose from many plans because they had a tax break. not of millions a year but anywhere from 1200 to 10s of thousands a year. and all the plans had to cover certain things with the exception that young people could choose a very cheap plan sans a lot of regulation as long as there was still coverage of pre existing (also I think each had to offer a dental plan but you could choose not to take it).

with healthy people mandated to pay in, this portion was similar to how insurance worked when it was more affordable in the 60s, 70s etc. whether they opted in or paid the penalty the money went in the kitty for the bigger users of insurance-the elderly and the unhealthy.

It DIDN'T happen!...:no

From less than a year ago...What, me buy insurance?

Quote:

How slow uptake by 'young invincibles' is driving the ACA's exchange rates higher

The most significant factor behind next year's sharply rising prices, experts say, is that millions of “young invincibles,” who represent a large segment of the uninsured pool, have so far not signed up for Obamacare.

We saw very little of the young and healthy,” said Sherri Huff, a consultant and former chief financial officer of Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative in Wisconsin, one of the insurance co-ops funded by ACA loans.

Indeed, only 28% of exchange members in 2014 were in the coveted 18-34 age range, and that percentage stayed level for 2016. It's below the 40% level many actuaries say is needed to create a more stable rate environment. The insurance industry has a name for that condition, which Obamacare was designed to fight. It's called adverse selection. And so far, the ACA's medicine isn't working.

I already addressed that. If they chose not to sign up their taxes were docked.
Obama care is working even though many republican governors chose not to expand medicaid. unfortunately some people were too poor or ill to leave those states, but a lot of them did. that is sad too to have to leave your home for that reason. Also don't forget rick scott of florida took the medicaid expansion money but did not expand it. he did this at least twice. wonder how many more snakes did that. we all had to foot that bill. coupled with all those state's poor going to emergency rooms for last ditch care.
yeah these lousy new world republicans like ryan and cruz could have worked with the democrats back at the inception of obama care or at least tried to help work out some bugs along the way. that is what happens with most major legislation. but they were too busy in 2088 beginning to campaign for president. well look where it got them.

The fatal flaw from the beginning exposed! :wave

This is why the idea is dead on arrival, and everyone who knows how this worked could tell you this was the one thing that would never fly.

It is why insurance companies got smart and got out! :wave

And why we need to repeal and replace Obama care.
