Yes, well then you guys should stop lying and saying that Trump is using a Blind Trust when he is not, and we won't have to call you out for lying. See that's how it works. You don't get to lie about something and then act all indignant when someone calls you on your bull****.

Can you explain how he wouldn't be in violation of the emoluments clause on day one?

Lets talk about Pay to Play for a second.
  • Linda McMahon, now runs the Small Business Administration; she gave $7.5 million to the Trump campaign
  • His choice for Education secretary, Betsy DeVos, and her family donated $1.8 million towards his run.
  • Todd Ricketts, his Deputy Commerce secretary pick, contributed $1.3 million to Trump
  • Treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin, gave $425,000.
  • Labor secretary Andrew Puzded donated $332,000.
  • Commerce secretary Wilbur Ross, contributed $200,000.

So much for Drain the swamp huh?

Here's how you get a job in the Trump Admin, Give him money!
Renting a hotel room or paying for a round of golf is not conferring a title or making a payment for political favor as the emollients clause was designed to prevent. This elementary difference eludes never Trump zealots steeped in hatred.

Obama received a royalty payment for every one of his books sold during his Presidency including books sold to foreign governments and officials. Applying the same standard the pompous Trump haters want to use for renting a hotel room at a Trump property, Obama should have been impeached on day one. Since not even an attempt was made to impeach it is obvious the actual meaning of the emollients clause is different from the one being used to whine about Trump.

Trump is placing his businesses at arms length, under control of his sons, resigning his position in the company and having a compliance officer appointed to avoid conflicts of interest. There is no evidence that Trump or his company will receive any compensation over ordinary and customary payments, gifts, for using their properties. There is nothing in the Constitution forbidding members of any Federal officials family from conducting a business. Sorry, for all those Trump haters who insist there is.

The idea that billion Aires gave Trump millions in campaign contributions so they could get cabinet posts paying a few hundred thousand per year is laughable. But of course simple arithmetic is beyond the capability of Trump haters. Go ahead and explain how Betsy DeVos benefits financially from more charter schools, she doesn't. But to Trump haters successful people using their resources to achieve public policy objectives out of altruism is only allowed if they are Leftists.

From a 1982 memorandum from the (Reagan) Deputy Assistant Attorney General Office cf Legal Counsel responding to an employee of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission seeking authorization to work on his leave time for an American consulting firm doing work for the Mexican government: “The Emoluments Clause of the Constitution prohibits government employees from accepting any sort of payment from a foreign government, except with the consent of Congress. Congress has consented to the receipt of minimal gifts from a foreign state, 5 U .S.C. § 7342 [1966 Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act], but has not consented to receipt of compensation for services rendered.”

Such a situation would not avoid the Emoluments Clause; thus it would be
possible that a President collecting rent from a foreign government would also run afoul of this clause of the Constitution.
