Default CRL Testimony on ACORN's Voter Fraud

CRL Testimony on ACORN's Voter Fraud

Quote:
James Terry, Chief Public Advocate for the Consumers Rights League, today testified at a joint House Administration and House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing on "Federal, State and Local Efforts to Prepare for the General 2008 Election," where he highlighted "corruption at every level of ACORN including embezzlement, cover-ups, misuse of taxpayer funds and voter fraud." An excerpt of his testimony follows:

James Terry, Chief Public Advocate, Consumers Rights League:

"ACORN routinely says it will clean up its act. Yet, given its decade-long history of voter fraud, embezzlement, and misuses of taxpayer funds, ACORN's pattern of fraud can no longer be dismissed as a series of 'unfortunate events.'

"The problem of voter registration fraud raises serious questions for this committee, and the Consumers Rights League appreciates that the right questions are being asked.

"Here are the most important questions right now: We know about the thousands of potentially fraudulent voter registration cards turned in by ACORN and caught by officials. But given the size of ACORN's efforts and the fact that the abuses appear to be systemic, we believe it is fair to question how many more fraudulent registrations have not been discovered, Furthermore, as this mega organization with a decades long history of violating the law is turned to get out the vote efforts, we believe it is fair to question how many fraudulent registrations may lead to fraudulent votes or what other activities they are willing to undertake to influence the election.
Now what kind of person would ever want to deal with...and PAY money to!...such a corrupt organization?...

Obama to amend report on $800,000 in spending

Quote:
U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign paid more than $800,000 to an offshoot of the liberal Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now for services the Democrat's campaign says it mistakenly misrepresented in federal reports.

An Obama spokesman said Federal Election Commission reports would be amended to show Citizens Services Inc. -- a subsidiary of ACORN -- worked in "get-out-the-vote" projects, instead of activities such as polling, advance work and staging major events as stated in FEC finance reports filed during the primary.

FEC spokeswoman Mary Brandenberger said it is not unusual for campaigns to amend reports, even regarding large sums of money.

But, said Blair Latoff, spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee: "Barack Obama's failure to accurately report his campaign's financial records is an incredibly suspicious situation that appears to be an attempt to hide his campaign's interaction with a left-wing organization previously convicted of voter fraud. For a candidate who claims to be practicing 'new' politics, his FEC reports look an awful lot like the 'old-style' Chicago politics of yesterday."...

Jim Terry, spokesman for a group that tracks ACORN, said Citizens Services Inc.'s involvement in the Obama campaign raises bigger questions.

"All of this just seems like an awful lot of money and time spent on political campaigning for an organization that purports to exist to help low-income consumers," said Terry, chief public advocate for Consumers Rights League, a Washington, D.C., advocacy outfit with a libertarian outlook.

"ACORN has a long and sordid history of employing convoluted Enron-style accounting to illegally use taxpayer funds for their own political gain," Terry claimed. "Now it looks like ACORN is using the same type of convoluted accounting scheme for Obama's political gain."
Not so strange bedfellow...

Business as usual for someone who comes from the political machine of one of the most politically corrupt cities in this nation. This the thing that the Dems. most fear - that Sen. Obama will get exposed as being nothing more than a tool of the corrupt political machine that put him where he is today.

Who's going to expose him?

Mr. Fannie/Freddie McCain?

Sorry to sidetrack you into reality, but our government leaders have dirty hands in the matter of pork, spending, kick-backs. You think McCain/Palin will change all that. I don't.

And McCain has tried to clean things up, but unfortunately ,just as GW Sr., he happened to have chosen the wrong party. The Republicans that rule the party today are never going to allow a broad clean up. Little Byron and Heather wouldn't get a big dividend in their trust fund and that would be so sad.
Not to mention mummy would have to give up her Swiss chalet and daddikens might end up in the brigg.

I've done a bit of 'community organizing' myself over the last three decades, and the one thing you can be sure of is big groups like ACORN are usually fronts for other agendas, and in many cases merely fronts for a single politician; if there ain't any personal benefit in a project for them, they aren't going to give you the time of day.

Any independent activist knows to not go to outfits like ACORN if you need help doing something locally; you go to local fire stations, and mainly small churches, and even some of the big indy churches, if you need volunteers and help putting something together.

Actually she took on the states longest serving senator. the states "energy commission" and the states used to be governor. Beat them and exposed their corruption.
It was Obama's bridge. He VOTED FOR it. He then voted NOT to reassign the money to New Orleans when the bridge was canceled.....As a states governor you are SUPPOSED to seek funds from the federal government....As a senator you are SUPPOSED to prevent "waste".....So who was doing THEIR job?
