Israeli lightly wounded by rock-throwers in Jerusalem

Incident follows death of man in car crash early Monday morning who lost control of vehicle after rocks hurled at his car
BY TIMES OF ISRAEL STAFF September 14, 2015, 7:20 pm

A young Israeli man was lightly wounded by rock-throwers in Jerusalem on Monday, almost 24 hours after another Israeli man was killed when his car came under a hail of stones, causing him to lose control and slam into a pole.

The lightly injured man was treated at the scene and security forces are looking for the perpetrators.

Elsewhere, a 16-year-old youth was detained on suspicion that he threw rocks at Border Police officers on the Mount of Olives in the capital. The suspect was detained and taken for questioning.

On Monday morning, Israeli Alexander Levlovitz, 64, died hours after he was seriously wounded when a car he was driving came under an apparent attack by rock-throwers in Jerusalem late Sunday night.

Two other people traveling in the car were lightly injured in the incident in the East Talpiot neighborhood of southeast Jerusalem.

Unknown assailants believed to be Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem reportedly attacked the car with stones, causing Levlovitz to lose control, run into a ditch and crash into a pole.

“The driver who was involved in an accident, apparently as a result of stone-throwing… died at Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital,” police spokeswoman Luba Samri said in a statement.

The three individuals were returning from a family dinner celebrating the Jewish New Year which began Sunday evening.

Levlovitz was taken to hospital in Jerusalem for treatment. Police were searching for the perpetrators.

Israeli news websites Ynet and Maariv said that officials were also looking into the possibility that Levlovitz had suffered a heart attack shortly before the crash.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that the prime minister will meet key ministers immediately after the Rosh Hashanah holiday for an emergency meeting to discuss deterrent measures against Palestinian rock-throwers.
The Democrats are not after the truth, they are after the President.
