Let us al keep in mind that airborne and aerosol are two different mechanisms.
Ebola is spread by aerosol every time an infectious person sneezes or coughs.

COMMENTARY: Health workers need optimal respiratory protection for Ebola | CIDRAP

Read article in link above.

Truth is, no one knows for sure if it is airborne so why not err on the side of safety?

I don't think they are being totally truthful with us as they don't want more of a panic than there already is.

Really? So an exchange of body fluids is the same as your scenario?

Here's something to make you all think. Suppose an infected person is bitten by a blood-sucking insect who transfers the blood to another person.

Yes, FrancSevin is right about this one. There are many diseases spread by droplets and that is usually considered within 3 ft. The droplets also must contact some mucous memberane or open skin to infect someone. This is not new with ebola and dropelt or aerosol spreading is not an evolutionary step to airborne.

The senerio below was used to cause hysteria during the AIDS thing. There is no evidence ebola is spread by insects either.

Yes, I know about the cold and flu virus being spread precisely that way, although the chances must be minute for it to be spread like that. However, I suppose a person who is unaware that he/she is incubating the disease may possibly not be that fussy about where he/she coughs or sneezes. On another note I would hope the prostitution business should be taking more care because of the high chance of catching ebola. I am not sure that condoms would be a secure and effective barrier, if used at all.

As I understand it one of the things that keeps the spread down is by the time you are contagious you are too damn sick to move around much.

Maybe a body condom with a repspiratory. but again she would probably be too sick to work.
