One time when I was about 8, 9 years Mrs. Artie Spencer heard a rattling in a brush pile. Keep in mind this is about an 80 something year old country lady in deep East Texas. Well she heard this rattlin' in a pile of sticks not to far from her front door. She walks off to the barn and grabs a hoe nonchalantly. She chased that rattle snake out of that brush pile and whacked its head off in a couple of strokes. I was wide eyed thinking "WOW."
had one in my house i Az. that was thrilling.

Nope.

Coyotes - seen a bunch of them. They are pretty harmless unless you let your cat outside. Then they are lunch.

Javelinas - pretty harmless, but they run in packs.

Scorpions - I've killed about 20-30 of these.

Elk - A stupid elk almost killed me by standing in the middle of the highway and I had to last second weave to avoid it.

Black Widow spider - I smashed one of them.

But no, never seen a rattlesnake here.

The thing I hate most are Vinegaroos, also called wind scorpions, I get them on my property all the time, they burrow into the dirt and come out at night, they are aggressive and will make you sick if bitten.

Saw a pack of Javelina's run through the neighborhood on the outskirts of Tucson one time, scared the sh*t out of me.

Have seen plenty of Coyote's, Big Horn Sheep, Wild horses and burro's, Desert Tortoise plus came up on a Rattlesnake coiled and rattling one time, got the heck out of there fast. Saw a Tarantula at Calico Basin in Red Rock Canyon one time,
one of the guy's caught it and put it in a empty cigarette Marlboro box, took it home and put it in with his pet Tarantula.

Here, If you want to know all the info is here. Here is some of it and the rest is in the link. BTW it's not a ban it is stricter regulation.

In response to the Port Arthur massacre, the Australasian Police Ministers’ Council (APMC) convened a special meeting on May 10, 1996, and agreed to a national plan for the regulation of firearms promoted by then Prime Minister John Howard.[6] The resolutions made at that meeting subsequently became the Nationwide Agreement on Firearms (commonly referred to as the National Firearms Agreement). The proposals emerged from earlier recommendations of the National Committee on Violence, which was established in 1988 following two mass killings in Melbourne involving high-powered rifles. The APMC had previously considered the need for a uniform approach to firearms regulation at meetings held between 1988 and 1995, and some state and federal laws had been changed during this period in response to shooting incidents.

The 1996 National Firearms Agreement led to the considerable revision of the laws of the states and territories and the implementation of a national buyback program to encourage firearms owners and dealers to surrender prohibited weapons.

After 1996 there were further shooting incidents, which led to additional action by Australian federal and state governments, including the National Handgun Agreement (2002), National Handgun Buyback Act 2003 (Cth), and National Firearms Trafficking Policy Agreement (2002).[12]

1996 National Firearms Agreement and Buyback Program

The buyback program started in most states on October 1, 1996, and ended on September 30, 1997. More than 640,000 prohibited firearms were surrendered nationwide as part of the buyback program. In addition, it was reported that about 60,000 nonprohibited firearms were voluntarily surrendered without compensation. According to a telephone poll conducted in 1999 on behalf of the federal government by Gun Control Australia, there were about 3.25 million guns in Australia prior to the 1996–1997 buyback program. One study on the impact of the buyback states that “[i]n terms of the absolute numbers of guns destroyed, Australia’s gun buyback ranks as the largest destruction of civilian firearms in any country over the period 1991–2006.” The buyback was reported to have resulted in the withdrawal of one-fifth of the stock of civilian firearms in the country and substantially reduced the number of households possessing a firearm.

Firearms-Control Legislation and Policy: Australia

What you also need to understand about Australia is the citizenry is much more closely connected to their representatives. Not like it is here. They know their reps on a first name basis. Much different than our system.

Read this part carefully

Just 12 days after the massacre, Howard, a conservative, announced that he had convinced Australia’s states to ban automatic and semiautomatic weapons and instigated a gun buyback for high-powered and rapid-fire rifles. A uniform system for registering and licensing firearms was introduced.

A third of the guns in Australia were handed in to the government. Polls found that as much as 90 percent of the public approved of the stricter gun laws.

There had been 11 gun massacres in the decade preceding 1996, but there have been no mass shootings since. This is a source of national pride, though statisticians still argue about what caused the change.

So your sites you use for information are looking at this from a progun U.S. view. They act as though the poor people of Australia were forced against their will to do something when the fact is they chose to do this. By 90%.

good opportunity to get rid of outdated and faulty Firearms!
Turn them in at a Buyback-Center!
