Been saying that for years, Baron, and all I get is that I'm a right winger. I'm an Independent with mixed views on political issues. But I am also a mother who has had children in both public and private schools. As well, I have been in Catholic and public schools myself when growing up.
'Right Winger' isn't something I'd really ever consider calling you.

I'd love to be able to send my daughter to a private school, but I'm not wealthy and left wingers won't allow me a voucher. There are some advantages to having your child go to a public school rather than spending their entire lives sheltered in some private schools, but I guess that's an entirely different topic.

Yes, but you can take your child to another school and private schools compete for your dollars. Kids are pretty much stuck in a public school district. You don't know how really bad it is till you spend the day with a student and observe what they go through.
Not all public schools are created the same. I'm much happier with my daughter's school here in NC, and over the years I've found myself choosing where I live based on the quality of the public schools.

I'm for filing criminal charges.
Against whom and what charges.

Remember what these officials were looking for in the first place was freaking Motrin!
The school had a 'no tolerance' policy, so seemingly the officials had no choice but to enforce it. A policy like that doesn't discriminate based on what drug...

If a school official suspects a child has real street drugs, they should call the police.
Once upon a time that policy would have led to frequent police lockdowns in some schools. In fact, I'm sure there are schools in certain places that quite often have a hint of mary jane in the air...

I would likely spend some time in jail for assault if this were my child,

Very liberal people often do. While very conservative people tend to label me as liberal. Just a true comment. I guess it's cause among other things I'm against abortion as birth control, but very open to socialized health care. Support the anti terrorist agenda, and also think we are ruining our planet with pollutants.

I am strongly in favor of vouchers.

And according to my reading, you chose wisely. NC is supposed to have high marks in over all quality of life including education.

Against the school district and the vice princip, and the nurses/aids or whoever did the search. On the grounds the girl's privacy rights were violated. If the privacy issue dosn't look mean enough to the prosecutor to get a conviction, I'd also go for child molestation charges.
The school had a 'no tolerance' policy, so seemingly the officials had no choice but to enforce it. A policy like that doesn't discriminate based on what drug... Since when do we have to sacrifice common sense and common dignity for a school rule? Motrin, asprin, tylenol should be allowed to be kept on a person at school and taken as needed. Crystal meth, marijuana, cocaine should not.

The only thing that should be done by 'rote' in a school is learning the multiplication tables.

Let me say the best thing a parent can do to insure their child is treated fairly is to make yourself known to all the teachers and the principle. Then they might think twice if they are the type to just mow over people to get to their goals.
