Even the greenies' arguments fall apart, as incredible emmissions from the trucks and locomotives will pollute more than the consequence of any ol' pipeline. The oil from Canada WILL go somewhere, no matter how hard the greenies dream otherwise.

Will Hussein veto bills from a republican house and senate in 2015?

Buffet owns the BNSF railway which is hauling most of that oil into this country until the pipeline is complete. Some of it is also coming in by truck. People worrying about the safety of pipelines are silly if they think hauling by rail and highway is safer or creates less pollution.

I have no problem with the pipeline;my problem is the route over the largest Aquafier in the nation. Reroute it to avoid that and i'm on board.

Buffett’s Burlington Northern Among Pipeline Winners

Quote:
Warren Buffett’s Burlington Northern Santa Fe LLC is among U.S. and Canadian railroads that stand to benefit from the Obama administration’s decision to reject TransCanada Corp. (TRP)’s Keystone XL oil pipeline permit.

With modest expansion, railroads can handle all new oil produced in western Canada through 2030, according to an analysis of the Keystone proposal by the U.S. State Department.

“Whatever people bring to us, we’re ready to haul,” Krista York-Wooley, a spokeswoman for Burlington Northern, a unit of Buffett’s Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK/A), said in an interview. If Keystone XL “doesn’t happen, we’re here to haul.”

The State Department denied TransCanada a permit on Jan. 18, saying there was not enough time to study the proposal by Feb. 21, a deadline Congress imposed on President Barack Obama. Calgary-based TransCanada has said it intends to re-apply with a route that avoids an environmentally sensitive region of Nebraska, something the Obama administration encouraged.

The rail option, though costlier, would lessen the environmental impact, such as a loss of wetlands and agricultural productivity, compared to the pipeline, according to the State Department analysis. Greenhouse gas emissions, however, would be worse.

yeah cause a cracked pipeline can do damage to the soil immediately cause its buried or close to the ground and it will seep and seep.

Two things about that. The Ogallala Aquifer covers over 85% of the state of Minn. To miss it, you would have to go outside of the state. The other thing to remember is that the aquifer is 400 feet deep and the pipeline will be buried 20 feet deep. The oil would have to seep through an awful lot of dirt and shale before it could enter the aquifer.

The pipeline is close to the ground but trains and trucks aren't? It's obvious you get your logic from ideology instead of actual fact. And that pipeline will have leak detectors that automatically shut the pipeline off if it springs a leak.

It's another obama big money donor that will profit the most from killing the pipeline.

As usual, all the rhetoric aside, it always comes down to money or power.
