Now I'm not sure what the rest of you think about this, but in my eyes, 20 years is a gift to this woman. She should be in jail for LIFE.

What do you mean "women's lib"? A woman's liberation should not come at the cost of a child's dignity.

I see it as a non issue. The authorities are handling it as they see fit, I suppose.
I don't think a 15 year old male having sex with his teacher is anything new.

I don't know. It's happening all too often and its happening with a little too much insolence. It isn't the fact that a 34 year old woman had sex with EIGHT boys, some of them 15, but its the fact that another teacher had sex with a student. It's almost like the ocurrence isn't even phasing anyone anymore.

When parents put their kids in the care of school officials, they have a reasonable expectation that their kids are not going to be placed in positions of having their hormones taken advantage of. There is a reason we don't accept authority figures engaging in sexual relations with minors; it is an affront to that adolescent's dignity to be taken advantage of in that way at such a physiologically and emotionally turbulent time in their lives. I'm not sure how to express this next point without it being somewhat blunt but...they should be free to experience that transition with people who are equally incapacitated so they are on equal footing and don't take for granted the seriousness of the act too quickly. Don't you think the kid deserves to go through life without having to say he lost his virginity to the porky special ed teacher? All because that predator picked them off while they were already slaves to their hormones. It's just disturbing and, quite frankly, cruel.

Where is the outrage?

I get what you're saying. The modern world is realizing we need to oversee child rearing and education more than we did in the past.
But I just come from a time period (and maybe a region?) where intro to sex for men was often at the institution of some teacher who these men seem to look back on with gratitude.

You know I respect you but I have to ask...

You're kidding me, right? This isn't like some kid stumbled on Stifler's mom...this is their TEACHER. I am absolutely appalled that this has become an epidemic. And if it were a male teacher and 15 year old girl, people would be screaming to crucify him. And in either case, it isn't the age that's the issue with me. It's that it is an authority sexually preying on the suboordinates. That's a fun bedroom game ( a really, really, really fun bedroom game). But it's not an acceptable reality.

But seriously. I'm not kidding you. I don't have the answers (or admittedly a real handle) to today's sexual problems. Partly because they are so far removed from the problems of 40 years ago.
One thing that has changed and plays a part in producing some of this (I think), is that not only are people not allowed to marry as early as in former times, they cannot successfully make a living either. So those two things compliment each other in such a way as to reconstruct our society so that a person who is sexually (and perhaps even emotionally) mature beyond his years has to remain in his parents' home and within the public or other education system.
While all the time their body and sometimes their mind/bio clock/ whatever is telling them it is the proper time to start a family.
Now these changes are good for a lot of reasons. One being the likelihood that someone will work his way through adolescence and come to the conclusion a college education- while living at home or at least at the economic outlay of his folks- is the best choice for his individual economic future.
But that doesn't change the fact many people mature earlier than society would like for them to in directions of sexuality, mentality and potential self sufficiency.
So a guy who could conceivably have started a family and been gainfully employed within my own lifetime, now has to play the waiting game and go through the system. His mind might cooperate, but we all know what has no conscience!

I can see some of what you are saying. But I just get alarmed that society is becoming so desensitized by what is clearly wrong. Not to sound alarmist, but that was the path Rome went down right before the end. And when children aren't safe from the predations of adults' libidos, there is a serious problem with society.

Many would say, "Well that' what you get for taking prayer out of school!"
And they are partly correct. In this way. There must be a standard of morality for a society to adhere to. Most of the people will do what is right because their god wills it. The rest follow along because they fear ostracization.
Today, people don't care if they shock you. In fact that's the whole point of a lot of styles and actions. Once upon a time, if this type of thing was uncovered, the woman would have been run out of town and her husband would have divorced her receiving full custody of any children.

Also, what I wonder is if this stuff really is getting worse or if it is just the agenda set by the AP that morning?
