House Democrats responded to President's Bush's call for Congress to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. This was at an on-camera press conference fed back live.

Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply.

Of course, lets turn over our refining capacity to the gov't. Then, they can manipulate and control the electorate to an even higher degree than they already do using fed. $$$. Of course, the first thing that will happen is that either gas prices will soar as our wonderfully efficient gov't takes over or they will plummet while our taxes soar to offset the gas prices. Some people are SOOOO stupid.....

I agree,I just don't see how the government can better manage the refineries.There are so many complex factors that are involved here.

A bit more lax regulation would increase refining capacity... Not a free for all mind you, just a bit more lax. After the refinery blew up in Big Springs (freak accident) prices here (in oil producing country) have jumped and remained higher than many other spots in the country.
