The Pentagon on Sunday called back to work most of its roughly 400,000 civilian employees, based on administration lawyers’ legal interpretation of the recent government slimdown.

The order was given by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, five days after roughly 800,000 federals workers were sent home after Congress failed to reach a deal to fund the government.

Hagel said the decision to recall the workers is based on a Pentagon legal interpretation of a law called the Pay Our Military Act.

The measure was passed by Congress and signed by President Obama shortly before the slimdown began.

Once again, proof that the Obama Administration jumped the gun and closed down facilities that didn't need to be closed down in an effort to make the shutdown seem worse than it needs to be. This includes HALF of all the workers supposedly furloughed by the shutdown. Unreal.

the administration did not shut anything down and as evidenced by this article used what power it does have to open a vital one back up. The House and Senate need to stick a stob up ted cruz' and eric cantor's azzes and put tape over their mouths, and get over all this nonsense before there is serious meltdown..

So you are saying they didn't furlough the workers? Who sent the workers home when it was obvious Obama had signed into law a bill that didn't require them to do so? Do you think Obama just forget and finally remembered today.

“Attorneys concluded that the law does allow the Department of Defense to eliminate furloughs for employees whose responsibilities contribute to the morale, well-being, capabilities and readiness of service members,” Hagel said in a written statement. “This has been a very disruptive year for our people … .Many important activities remain curtailed while the shutdown goes on.”

After threatening to veto "piecemeal" funding bills from the House Imperial Obama issues a decree to do the very thing he condemns. How long will our President play politics not negotiating?

I just posted the story what happened. Why don't you go ask chuck Hagel? Most of the government shutdown is not an Obama decision. Number one we are under sequestration which already put restrictions on funding a lot of stuff. these are more or less automatic cuts because there is no budget. the president would have to go in and turn each on and it is debatable which he would have a legal right to do. in this instance congress had already passed a specific law and the personnel in question have now been deemed by a court of law to come under that legislation.

I pointed out the fact President Obama just did what he condemned the House Republicans for attempting. Why don't you speak to that fact?

President Obama doesn't have the authority to fund the government but Congress does. Why won't Obama negotiate with the people who can legally fund the government? Because he'd rather play politics.

I guess you forgot that Hagel was appointed by Obama and works for him.

Obama is the president and is responsible for everything that happens within the Executive Branch. To give him a pass on this is ridiculous and shows what lengths Obama apologists will go to to defend the "Chosen One". Obama is giving the orders. Hagel is only following them. Obama could choose to not shut down anything, but he wants to prove a point, so he is making as many American suffer as is possible. He could care less about us voters. All he worries about is his political agenda.
