Default Snowden alleges U.S. hacking against China, Hong Kong

maybe we need a section called "national security leaks"

Quote:
BEIJING -- Edward Snowden told Hong Kong media that the United States is involved in extensive hacking operations directed against China and Hong Kong.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post published on the newspaper’s website early Thursday, Snowden said he wanted to demonstrate “the hypocrisy of the U.S. government when it claims that it does not target civilian infrastructure, unlike its adversaries.’’

The accusations throw a new wrench into the Obama administration’s campaign against extensive hacking operations by the Chinese military. From the U.S. perspective, cyber security was near the top of the agenda during last weekend’s summit in California between President Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping, but there was no progress on the issue.

Snowden, 29, a former contract employee for the National Security Agency, told the Hong Kong newspaper that he believed the agency ran 61,000 hacking operations, with “hundreds of targets” in China and Hong Kong. The operations, he said, had been in place since 2009 and targeted the Chinese University of Hong Kong, public officials, businesses and students.

“We hack network backbones -- like huge Internet routers, basically -- that give us access to the communications of hundreds of thousands of computers without having to hack every single one,” he said.

this douche bag went from civil disobedient whistle blower to a full blown falcon and the snowman treasonous traitor.
it's one thing to break a law in a civil disobedient manner to warn u.s. citizens they're under surveillance by our government and something completely different to give our foreign surveillance secrets to a foreign government.

I'm glad to see you are a quick discerner of the truth, Gordon. I'd like you on my side if it ever comes down to brass tacks.

U.S. Fears Edward Snowden May Defect to China: Sources

U.S. intelligence officials on the trail of rogue contractor Edward Snowden are now treating the National Security Agency leak case as a possible foreign espionage matter, raising fears that the 29-year-old computer whiz may be attempting to defect to China with a trove of America's most sensitive secrets, according to U.S. officials.

Of course we are hacking China and Hong Kong. And I'm sure we are hacking Iran and Pakistan and just about every other ME country. Anyone who thinks we aren't is just being naïve. You fight fire with fire. We have the capability, the people with the skills and a big pile of money to do this with. Electronic espionage has been going on almost since the advent of the web.

Him announcing this from China just before a heads of state meeting addressing China's hacking our systems begs the question...

Was this planned by the Chinese.
At best he is now clearly past the 4th amendment and more in the line of traitor.

I don't have an opinion one way or the other until I see exactly what he is going to reveal. You might be right. It could have been planned by the Chinese and they greased his palm with enough money to get him to speak out. If so, they sure outsmarted us.

All quite probably true.

But even a schizoid lunatic is right when he's right.

Had snowden stayed in this country and hid out while releasing the information about what our government did to its own people I would not have had a problem with it. But having done so in another country, a communist country at that, I think he is a traitor and should be shot on sight.

At least Bradley Manning is facing his treason like a man.

China spies on us and we spy on China.
It's not like China doesn't already know we are spying on them.

I think Snowden is a hero and I don't think he got anything off any govt computers did he?
