Reading the article the manager of the rest, apologized to the officers and told them they did not have to leave, but they said it would be uncomfortable to stay. Denny's corporate also issued an apology and said they always welcomed the police.

It appears that a low level manager agreed with a customer and asked the officers to leave their guns in the car because the customer was "uncomfortable." The customer was an ass and so was the low level worker.

The police were plain clothes and the customer probably didn't realize they were police. Although it would not where I live in that state seeing armed people probably freaks other people out. I would blame the Denny's worker since once the police showed I.D. he should have dropped it.

I wish these idiot gun control people would just put signs around their necks informing us they don't want armed police protection if they are being mugged.

Half the Denny's around here would be glad to have cops around. It keeps the thugs down in the city.

I have a friend who was a 7-11 manager when he was young. The 7-11 was in a really bad neighborhood and had been the target of multiple hold-ups. My friend started giving the local police free coffee refills. The police were there a lot after that and the hold-ups stopped as a result. Lesson to learn: Having the police in your establishment makes your establishment a safer place for everyone.

Don't know about Illinois, or Denny's, but in South Florida, the most well protected and visited restaurant is always Hooter's. So many squad cars you would think a robbery is in progress in every Hooter's restaurant every day and night. Getting a parking space near the restaurant - forget-about-it.....stan
