Default Californians flee for better-run states, study finds

Cannot blame them. California is not what it used to be. I lived there in the seventies when I attended Caltech. I stayed off-campus mostly in Pomona. The entire Los Angeles county area was not bad, though extremely strange. Very different culture, especially for an Iowa farm boy like myself, though I had lived in Chicago while studying at the University of Chicago for a few years prior. The L.A. area was also very laid back with people mostly friendly while I lived there.

These days? Not so much. In addition to the fiasco and crisis the state is going through due to poor management, there are many snobbish, stuck-up, know-it-all morons abound. It is also extremely crowded in many areas and certainly not as desirable to live there as it used to be.

And the more people that move away, the harder it will be for California to recover.

It has been my experience people who stay in California are the best. Friendly, helpful, intelligent. It's when they leave they become the azzholes who want to do a make over on wherever they light.

I have been back many times to California since I moved and it is not even recognizable anymore. People are rude, a lot of pollution, the state is beyond broke and digging themselves more into a hole, overcrowded, etc...

Financially, the state is basically Greece. Actually, Greece may be in slightly better shape.

Regardless, the state has no one to blame but themselves. They are the ones that elect these dolts who have driven the state into the ground.

You must have lived there in the 80s to have seen it not so polluted.

Seventies. And it is polluted now in many areas. Bad. Was just there three years ago. Made me sad to see how far in the crapper the state has gone.

That certainly wasn't my experience. I moved there, stayed a year and ****ing got the hell out. Sure, there were friendly, helpful, intelligent people there just like there are anywhere. But they weren't the average person. The average people were impersonal, distant, and un-trusting. Which you can't really blame them given all the violence and crime. The pollution was intolerable, disgusting and sad. I don't know why anyone lives in the metro areas, there was nothing redeeming about such areas. Then add to that the ****ing insane cost of living and outrageous taxes.
