Many of us did order coffee but the owner told us that we were hurting his business by taking up tables and parking spaces that made his restaurant look busy. I believe the owner had a valid point,he put up with our meetings for a long time but we were hurting his business. We moved to another restaurant and changed our club policy, members were "expected" to order food and drink and most of them did..

I miss smokey old independent all night cafes. Sh*t you could set up a domino game and nobody cared!

If the community wants to voice their opinion, they can do so by choosing not to give McDonald's their business.
I can understand the restaurant's point of view, though I don't think the issue was the subject matter.

There are many places that willing open their doors with no fee for such meetings, rather than just occupying tables at a place of business without doing anything to actually support the business.

If I were to make a guess....it might be that the complaint had more to do with transients and drug addicts hanging out than religion.

I think it had everything to do with religion, but not in the sense you think. The McDonald's I know have booths that seat only four people and the tables are fixed to the floor so they can't move. That would mean this group is most likely taking up more than one table and the leader would have to be walking around those tables to be heard. If that was the case I can see why they were asked to leave.

We have a bible study once a week in the complex I live at and they take up five tables butted into one another and they do get loud sometimes discussing whatever. I think that the group probably out grew McDonald's and the manager finally had to ask them to leave.

There another mystery solved by MrLiberty.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this (I didn't read the whole thread), but it likely has more to do with the "transients and drug addicts" aspect than the "christian" aspect.
Few family-friendly restaurants would welcome a weekly convention of transients and drug addicts, regardless of their religion or the purpose of their meeting.

I live surrounded by a bunch of hills. Recently I started seeing white crosses erected on a few of the hills. Then the other night I am driving up the road from my house and I see one of our residents has hung a big lighted cross on the back of their house that is probably 7 ft. tall by 4 ft. wide. Wonder who has been erecting these crosses everywhere.

This bugs the **** out of me. I don't mind what people believe in but why is it they need to stick it in everyone elses lives? I have been tempted to knock down these crosses out where I hike. Not because I hate jesus but because I don't want my enjoyment of the country interfered with by advertisments

Your displeasure sanctions your vandalism. We have "progressed" from freedom of religion to the supremacy of atheist sensitivities over Constitutional rights.

It is BLM land. The vandals are those who erect religious structures on public land wouldn't you say?
