I am withholding an opinion due to the fact the other side of the story has not been released, but here is Mrs. Stevens' version of events.
Mrs. Stevens' boss, Mrs. Brucia, informed her she needed a kidney transplant. Stevens agreed to donate her kidney to save her life. She ended up not being a perfect match, but was told if she donated it to the general pool, Brucia would be bumped to the top of the list, which apparently is standard procedure.
Stevens donated the kidney, which went to someone in St. Louis and Brucia received hers from San Francisco.
A month after the operation, Stevens was pressured to return to work while Brucia stayed at home to recover longer. Stevens was not feeling well and suffering from complications from the surgery and took a few days off. She was then called by Brucia from her home after she went back to work and yelled at, telling her she could not come and go as she pleases. When Brucia returned to work, she had an attitude toward Stevens and even yelled at her in front of co-workers.
Eventually, Stevens had her office and overtime pay taken away, even being relocated to a car dealership fifty miles away in a crime-ridden neighborhood. Finally, Stevens was fired.
I seriously hope there is more to the story. Regardless, I have a feeling this multi-billion dollar company will settle with her out of court.
What a strange story.
