The positives of this pipeline don't just "outweigh", but "blows the friggin' doors off" any negatives...

Then I'd call up TransCanada and pretend I'm Captain Picard...

Having thought about it since our second to last posts on the topic, I'd say find a new route that is more environmentally suitable and we'll review it.

I think it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. But I'm not for simply putting people to busy-work if it means damage like we've seen in Alaska and in the gulf. I'd just as soon put more people to work on insuring less damage rather than taking chances. Big oil has already shown me it's concern for the almighty dollar, and an attitude of "the hell with lives and the environment."

House Republicans have called Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to testify as early as next week on the Obama administration’s decision to reject the Keystone XL pipeline.

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton formally sent a request to Clinton to come and testify at a hearing as early as next Wednesday, the day after President Barack Obama gives his State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress.
several other maneuvers are in the works including:
Quote:
A bill from Rep. Lee Terry (R-Neb.) to give FERC control over the pipeline’s fate instead of the White House and State Department is “first in line,” Upton said. “Terry has a very good bill,” he said. “But again all options are on the table.”

Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.) has a draft bill to allow Congress to approve the pipeline, giving Nebraska officials time to find an alternative route.

Thing is (I can't find their website at the moment) Keystone is building it in such a way that separate joints are seal-able along the way to minimize any damage.
And the pipe ends up in a refinery in Texas. Not to mention the jobs along the way.
PLUS there wasn't a whole lot in Nebraska before the pioneers got there. WTF?

Well I hope these laws get passed and we can circumvent this idiot in office.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper, in a telephone call yesterday, told Obama “Canada will continue to work to diversify its energy exports,” according to details provided by Harper’s office. Canadian Natural Resource Minister Joe Oliver said relying less on the U.S. would help strengthen the country’s “financial security.”

The “decision by the Obama administration underlines the importance of diversifying and expanding our markets, including the growing Asian market,” Oliver told reporters in Ottawa.

Buh-bye jobs, buh-bye!
Uh-oh Canadians are pushed into realizing they would be better off out from under our shadow? This could have lasting consequences.
For real.

Buh- bye oil. We will kind of need that if Iran shuts down shipping lanes, and we won't drill here, The jobs are a bonus at this point.

I guess president Derp doesn't get that.

Canada has traditionally been about the best neighbor we could ever hope for, and I'd certainly like to see that continue.

They don't really live in our shadow, but they shouldn't be penalized because we elected some fort of quasi-Marxist dullard.

Yes, "we," the ones seeking to form a more perfect union. From the Candians point of view "we" elected a bizarre, confused regime. To them it really isn't a matter of how individuals voted.
