Which I don't personally have an issue with. It's like cosigning. But if the government isn't going to cosign for you to get a Mazda, then they shouldn't be able to cosign to put you in the military.

If the state is in charge of you at that time, then they should be able to make that decision, but not base it on personal belief like this judge has. If the child shows that he/she is willing and able to be in the military at that time, then that should be shown to the courts.

If the state isn't going to support a child's decision to purchase a car at 18 (ie Uncle Sam as a cosigner), then they shouldn't have the right to support a child's decision to enter into the military early. As I stated, the default should be no to protect the interests of the child and the state. Otherwise, the state should demand that the child seek emancipated minor status and then the child can make the decision on his/her own.
