Post Padded Lampposts Tested in London to Prevent Cell Phone Texting Injuries

People who have been injured while walking and texting on their cell phones may be in luck.

A London street is experimenting with padded lampposts to protect those not paying attention from banging into them, ITN reports.

A study conducted by 118 118, a phone directory service, found that one in 10 people has been hurt while focusing on their cell phone instead of where they were walking, ITN reports.

The test lampposts will be given a trial run in London’s East End on Brick Lane. If the trial is successful it will be rolled out in Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool.

The survey found that almost two thirds of respondents lost peripheral vision while texting, and more than a quarter wanted lines on the pavement to create routes for texters to walk while using their phones.

The study claims that 68,000 people were injured in the U.K. last year while chatting or texting on their cell phone, Infomatics reports.

Instead, I say we paint these things daily so that anybody who runs into them while texting gets paint on themselves.
The very idea of idiots running into things cause they can't pay attention cause they are too busy texting is insane.
The PEOPLE are creating the hazard. And obviously the risk is not just to themselves.
The post that has been there for the last several years is not the problem.

I consider their pain a lesson...

If that pole wasn't there in the first place they'd be walking into the street...

They deserve the injuries...I say put spikes on the poles...

I was wondered as I typed that if I was channeling my inner conservative.
My initial thought WAS to put spikes on it.
And I got that article from FoxNews to boot!

I think it's time for me to start watching Hillary more and go vegan. This place may be corrupting me...

I agree with the padding, and I think there should be a nurse at every lamp post to make sure that the texter is alright... and also to see if they need to cry about their mommies /end sarcasm
