As video cameras grow ever more ubiquitous, confrontations -- both legal and physical -- over their use are becoming more common.

Case in point: NBC affiliate WHEC-TV in Rochester, N.Y., reported Tuesday on an incident in which police arrested a woman who filmed a traffic stop from her front yard and refused an officer’s order to go into her house. The woman, 28-year-old Emily Good, was later charged with a misdemeanor: obstructing governmental administration.

As WHEC reports in this follow-up story, “The fundamental question being debated here is this -- should she have been forced to follow a police officer's order or was she lawfully within her rights to remain on her front lawn?"

Watch the YouTube video of the incident and see what you think. Does it matter to you that she was known to the police, having been arrested in March with a group of others who tried to block a home from foreclosure?

If it was an undercover operation and there was a chance of outing an agent, I might understand it.

As reported however....this is just

More and more cops are becoming overzealous when confronted with a person with a camera. It is not illegal to record them doing their job, although I understand that in some locales they have passed laws about it.

This woman was completely within her rights and I'm sure when this goes to court she will be vindicated. If not we as a country are in a much sorrier state than I realize.

Why would a woman who is a known radicalized protestor want to record a routine traffic stop? She's spent some time in jail as a result of some of the protests she was involved in so what's with her bleating?

If cops can do this and get away with it, then this country has truly died.

Doesn't matter why.

A followup on Emily Good, the woman who was arrested for video-recording a police stop from her front yard: during a neighborhood meeting in support of Ms Good, Rochester Police came out with a ruler and measured the parking-distance of the attendees' cars. Cars that were more than 12 inches from the curb (even by half an inch) were ticketed. Needless to say, the 12 inch ordinance isn't normally enforced with this kind of vigor.
Rochester police use selective enforcement of parking laws to harass attendees at a meeting in support of Emily Good - Boing Boing

Wow.
Just wow.
I count at least four cop cars / four cops involved in this crap.
And there are only a handful of cars shown that they are looking at. Divided by the four of them...

Well there better not be too many plaintiffs if they move for a class action...

The Blaze makes the point that the cop mentions something in the video concerning the known activist saying something before the filming began which made him uncomfortable to have her behind him. We haven't heard all the details of this story yet.

?Take Back the Land?: Woman Arrested for Videotaping Police?Has a Long History of Radical Confrontation | Breaking news and opinion on The Blaze

There's a video on there of a previous incident where Good, and fellow activists stormed a building surrounded by cops.

She's known to police which is another thing to consider.
