If it was the milk making them sick, that would make sense. But it's Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria, etc. that can be found in unpasteurized milk that makes them sick.

Then I'd say they probably need a gradual exposure to build up their weakened immunity. We've become so pansy-assed in the western world in general that we believe sterility is a good thing.

It's a chance you personally are welcome to make. Any one can. The farm did not get sued because they were selling or drinking raw milk. They got busted for selling across state lines and breaking commerce laws.

You do realize that pasteurized milk can end up with the same bacteria again, right?

And even still, it isn't so much the milk you have to worry about as it is the containers it's put in.

But you know...here's a zany, crazy idea: you drink all the pasteurized milk you want and leave me free to drink all the raw milk I want.

Personally I like my pasteurized skim milk bought at the gorcery store but I see no reason why a person can't buy raw milk if they so desire.
& then for Maryland to go to the point of outlawing "cow-sharing" to prevent folks from getting raw milk just seems overkill.
glad we got people working on catching these criminals...we got bin laden...now it's on to those pesky Amish farmers
One of my friends drives about 120 miles to buy raw unpasteurized milk, and pays a pretty penny for it. I'm thinking maybe I should buy a couple of milking cows and quit my job.

If that's all it took, there would have been no need for pasteurization in the first place. At the turn of the century (20th), everyone drank raw milk, but were still getting food poisoning from it. E.coli is not something your body just adapts to.

Drink all you want. Just don't sell and ship it across state lines and no one will bother you.

E coli LIVES in our bodies. It's a natural inhabitant to the human digestive tract.

I already explained the supposed "need" for pasteurization. It's not needed if the cows are kept and fed properly.

You can't drink it all you want because it's illegal in many states.

And shipping it across state lines? ****ing seriously? Do our cops have nothing better to do than to harass people selling MILK for ****s sake?
