It's a shame that it takes a 2nd offense to sentence someone to a long prison sentence...... Life on the 1st offense. I am sure with some research, you could find where a huge majority of 1st offenders, will turn out to be repeat offenders.... Take care of them the first time.

Our prisoners are overcrowded. Here in California, the Governor is actually shortening sentences on non violent criminals as budget reducion tactic. The priority is of course violent criminal. It costs between 40,000 to 90,000 bucks a year for each criminal, the most expensive being on death row. Here, they have them stacked up in bunkbeds in dormitories.

I could say treatment, but I am not convinced treatment is that effective. The repetition of offenses of pedophile completing treatment is not impressive.

1) The quote indicates a doctor who stated pedophilia "can be thought of as a sexual orientation".
It didn't include any indication he DID think of it as a sexual orientation.

2) The APA's definition of "sexual orientation" clearly establishes that pedophilia is not a "sexual orientation".

And we all know the APA is be all end all don't we. They leave "science" up to popular vote. If that ain't "scientific method".
