"Meh" is an interjection, often used as an expression of apathy, indifference, or boredom. However, it can also be used to indicate agreement or disagreement. It can also be an adjective, meaning mediocre or boring

Florida is low, but not below sea level. (I grew up in Florida.) That's a huge difference.

A coastal city with major portions below sea level is an abusrdity.

Plus Floridians in general, don't sit in their living rooms waiting for somebody to pick them up in the face of an approaching hurricane, as so many people in New Orleans were said to have done.

When and since the earthquake in Hati there have been liberals moaning about support for the victims of the quake. Yet I haven't heard much about earthquake relief for Chile and I imagine there will not be much call for earthquake relief for Japan either. Why is that?

Guessing here and we will see but I thi nk the reason will be how the different countries populations react to these types of things.

Haiti is always on the dole so they just sit there waiting for someone to come help them.

Japanese on the other hand are self reliant and will just start putting everything back together and not sit there waiting.

It will be interesting to see whether or not the Japanese government sits on its hands trying to figure out what to do (like some governments) or will take decisive action to help itself.

I would tend to think that Japanese people themselves will pitch in to help and put their country back together fairly quickly, kind of like the people did after Hurricane Rita. I can't see them acting like the people did in New Orleans after Hurrican Katrina and sitting around waiting for the Feds to bail them out.

The Japanese are wealthier and better educated than Haitians or the districts in New Orleans that got the worst damage.
Shame on Y'all for making fun of ignorant poor and often superstitious people.

That is because they have a better work ethic and actually care about education. They don't sit around making excuses. I am saying I expect them to do the same here. The ignorant and superstitious will continue as they always have.
