Default Musharraf rejects UN Bhutto probe

Quote:
Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has ruled out a United Nations inquiry into the assassination of the opposition leader, Benazir Bhutto.

He told the French paper Le Figaro that Pakistan had its own institutions to investigate the killing and that they were being assisted by the UK.

The president said he hoped the results of the investigation would be published before February's parliamentary vote.

Ms Bhutto's son, Bilawal, has repeatedly called for a UN inquiry.

He has said his family and the Pakistan People's Party, of which he is now joint leader with his father, do not believe that a government inquiry into Benazir Bhutto's death has had the "necessary transparency".

'Not possible'
Duh! Did anyone really think he was going to allow a probe?!

It's actually a good move...

I would NEVER want the UN to investigate anything...

My point is he's the OJ of the world politicos now.
He did it-hedidit -He did it.
And he's getting away with it.

Also I think this is a small part of the reason behind Obama's popularity. Remember the debates when he asked "Why is this country Pakistan our ally?"?

In typical fashion, I see a complaint without looking at the alternative...

With Bhutto gone, the most likely successor to Mushareef will be more likely sympathetic to radicals and less likely to be a US ally...

And when THAT happens, what are you going to say then?...

This is comparable to the Shah of Iran in the late 70s...

On a scale of 1-10 this guy was an 8 at being a prick...

But getting rid of the 8 in order to watch a 35 become the leader (Khomenei) is just plain stupid...

I hate to tell you, but when my options are a thief and Charles Manson, I'm picking the thief every time...

Why do we have to be friends with the lesser evil? Why are we friends with evil at all?
