I have always heard that the thermometers in Vegas are rigged to read 10-20 cooler than the actual temps. This is done so it doesn't scare the tourists away!!!

Iowa boy do you ever miss this place? If I were there I know I would. Maybe that is why I am still here...

Hi Kirk, I miss the 4 seasons of Iowa, all we have here is sun and dry weather with a little monsoon moister mixed in. I am only 25 minutes from the snow during the winter time, so at least I get to do some snowshoeing and winter hiking.

I've been there too and Prairie du Chien. Oh man there was this bar in Prairie du Chien that made great apple pie shots for us. I worked on the American Queen

Kirk, The thermometers are not rigged, but the official one is down in the parking garage at the airport so it does read lower than all the neighborhood temps, by 5-10 degrees, the sun temps are 20+ degrees higher. When I worked on the flight line at Nellis AFB the temps were always around 130 on the tarmac during July and August, it was brutal. But I was young then.

We would always go to Starks in Prairie du Chien. they sold everything from guns and hunting supplies, to groceries and liquor. I loved the Cheeses, especially salami cheese, I would always bring a few pound home.
I think the sold ATV's and farm tractors too.
