But you do a lot of networking beside the many threads. But do as you like, it was a suggestion.

And I have started many threads but in many cases combined them into other threads so it became a post.

I find it better to post to the members but target the many readers we have.

Those threads have kept going and have gone far beyond what I excepted..

Superman Comic Saves Family From Foreclosure
In the nick of time, the Man of Steel saved a family's home ... for real. A couple facing foreclosure found the collateral they desperately needed with the discovery of an Action Comics #1 (aka, the Holy Grail of comic books) in their basement.

As any true fanboy knows, Action Comics #1 is the most significant comic of all time because it was Superman's debut. In fact, the issue birthed the entire genre of the superhero.

The fortuitous find occurred when the anonymous family began the painful process of packing up their home due to a bank's foreclosure proceedings. The house had been in the family's possession since the 1950s, which is probably when the wife's father stashed the issue in a box with some other, mere mortal titles. When they first realized what they had found, they contacted Stephen Fishler, co-owner of New York's ComicConnect and Metropolis Collectibles.

"They said they came across a box that had magazines in it and some old comic books," Fishler told Asylum. "And that they came across what appears to be an Action #1." Fishler points out that "99.9 percent" of similar calls he receives turn out to be about reprints, so at first he was dubious. "They took a cell phone picture of the book and texted it to me, and I realized it was an Action #1," he says.

Fishler is no stranger to this title, having brokered the record-breaking sale of an Action #1 in February (for $1 million), only to break that record a month later by selling another copy for $1.5 million. This copy will go on display at this weekend's Comic-Con in San Diego, where it will also be officially graded. Fishler figures it will garner a VG+ (Very Good) rating and should fetch upwards of $250,000 when it goes up for auction on ComicConnect.

Asylum was able to get a reaction from the owner (who wants to remain anonymous), who said through Fishler that the family was "still a little shell-shocked about finding this book. I was so nervous when I realized what it was worth. I know

I am very fortunate but I will be greatly relieved when this book finds a new home."

Thankfully, it looks like they'll get to keep theirs.

This is a site that caters to kids. Listen to the vid. What I found to be good news is the fact that this teacher has created a newspaper for kids that is distributed to more than 250 schools across the country. Very interesting and the paper is filled with stories and facts that children can understand.

You won't find a news story on this, but it is still good news.

A few months back, my youngest child decided to reduce her college class load to part time. Doing so, meant that she no longer qualified for medical benefits under my company sponsored health care program.
A few days ago, she cracked a tooth. The dentist told her it was $1250 to fix it. Of course, as a student and part time employee, she doesn't have an extra $1250 laying around, and she told the dentist that.
I told my daughter that since she was the one that opted to lose her insurance I wasn't going to pay for it. One of those "tough-love" lessons us common folk live.
Friday, the dentist called her and told her to scrape together what ever she could afford and he would do the work for whatever monies she could come up with. I'd say another life lesson was learned --- about charity, compassion and relationship.
After the dental work is done I'm going to visit the dentist and pay his lost income. He deserves it.

Our family doctor is like that. When I first retired and didn't have insurance I had to go see him because I got a huge splinter lodged under my skin on my right hand. It was a huge piece of wood and I couldn't dig it out. I called him about half an hour before he went home and the nurse told me to come in right away. (I only lived about 5 minutes from his office.) I got there and he took me in, froze the knuckle where the 2x4 was lodged and removed it. I required three stitches to boot. About a week later I got the bill and sent in the money, two days later I got the check back from his wife and told me not to worry about it that I didnb't have insurance and it wasn't that big a deal to them. To this day I am grateful I have this kind of doc I can call.

There's a lady in our town who was diagnosed with MS and eventually had to cut back her work schedule. How does she fill her time? She volunteers as coordinator at a local charity that provides a host of things for the poor including: winter coats, food baskets, school supplies for kids, clothing vouchers...and there are many more that she puts together and records for the different charities. A truly amazing person, she's as "common as an old shoe" when you talk to her. She does nothing special according to her. And I forgot to mention at this point she sees double.

Here's some good news - yesterday I tried to create a "limited account" on the wife's computer as a security measure for the normal things she and I do - couldn't get an internet connection on it - spent all day trying to make it work - at the end of the day couldn't get an internet connection on the admin account - went back to work on it this afternoon - and here I am - not on a "limited account" though.
