Most likely these are pissed off conservatives, but there's a pretty big chunk of liberals in this country who are angry that the House by-passed the Constituion forced on them something they didn't want. What happened was wrong and the perps. need to be in jail, but keep in mind that this is a reflection of the national mood and just maybe Congress needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
That's the way I see it...

I have a hard time wondering why anyone is shocked at this...

A majority of the public nows feels like an animal trying to escape from the government's grasp and the government just backed them into a corner...Cornered animals become dangerous...

Here's the issue...

There will ALWAYS be whackjobs who go the violence route...all sides...all topics...

If the government pisses off 1,000,000 people, you're going to have .0001% of them being whackjobs...That's 10 people...

But the government just pissed of well over 100,000,000 people...

Going at the very same percentage of whackjobs, that turns out to be 1000+...

So the issue isn't simply "more people are violent"...It's "There's the same ratio of whackjobs per pissed people, but Congress just pissed of more people, so they increased the pool of whackjobs themselves."

NY Congressman Gets Threatening Letter

Update

Quote:
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The office of Representative Anthony Weiner on Thursday received a threatening letter containing an unidentified white powder, his office said.

"Earlier today an envelope containing white powder and a threatening letter was delivered to my community office in Kew Gardens," the Democratic congressman said in a statement issued by his office.

"My first priority is the safety of my staff and neighbors, and the authorities are currently taking steps to investigate and resolve the situation," he said.

Weiner's office in Kew Gardens, part of the New York City borough of Queens, was closed for investigation.

Authorities were responding to the site, and no other details were immediately available, said FBI spokesman Richard Kolko.

The FBI and police are investigating attacks and threats against Democratic members of Congress who voted for healthcare reform, and a senior House of Representatives Democrat said on Wednesday his colleagues are at risk. Weiner voted in favor of the legislation.

Bricks were tossed through the windows of one member's office, another lawmaker was spat at by a protester on Capitol Hill and another was the target of a racial slur.

The House gave the healthcare measure -- President Barack Obama's top domestic priority -- final congressional approval on Sunday. Obama signed it into law on Tuesday.

Emotions ran high among opponents and supporters during the yearlong debate over the legislation.

GOP's Cantors office shot at.

FOXNews.com - Cantor Says Campaign Office Was Shot At, Accuses Dems of Exploiting Threats

The difference is the Dems are trying to hype it up and capitalize on it.

Unfortunately..violence spreads violence,I was unaware that the Republicans were receiving even (more) threats than the Democrats had received.I commend them for keeping this silent while the D's capitalize on it...

Te Democrats never fail to disappoint me.

The bullet was fired into the air and came down inside the window so it wasn't even aimed at the building...

Quote:
A Richmond Police detective was assigned to the case. A preliminary investigation shows that a bullet was fired into the air and struck the window in a downward direction, landing on the floor about a foot from the window.

Cantor's revelation seemed curious given what a plastering Republicans have been getting over the last 24 hours for their role in inciting isolated acts of vandalism and threats against Democrats.

yes but doesn't belay the fact he kept it quiet and didn't capitalize on it. FOX played a phone message left for a lady GOP congressperson tonight, it's on both sides and neither should try to gain or attack the other side with it like the Dems are attempting to do.

Let's not forget the attacks that have been levied on previous Presidents and members of Congress.

Yes but why would they even try to capitalize on a bullet fired into the air that happened to hit a window in a downward motion that may not have been an intended target?...

Remember...we're not talking about a single indecent here,we're talking about as many as 10 threats and violence associated with the passage of this bill. This is very (recent)...would the Republicans keep this quiet with that many incidents in a weeks time?...I don't think so and I have a hunch that you know I'm right...

The other side of me says, we don't need all of this. IMO, actions a half step to far will set our cause back 3 steps. Can we not be rational in our diagreement and discourse?

I think in the end, no matter which side you are on, we must do what we must and not retracked for the consequence but let ourselves be counted. I think that our radical leaders left and right should lead from the front not from the back.

Bottom line, what did this congress think would be the result of their actions?
We are failing as a society, because core American's remain silent when this kind of stuff happens.

By not saying...
  • violence is wrong and un-acceptable in all cases (except self-defense)
  • torture is wrong under any condition
  • threatening elected officials will not be tolerated
  • everyone must have respect for the rule of law
  • our country comes before our company
...we are allowing this behavior to continue.

If we cannot agree on something as absolute as the above, then nothing is going to get fixed because we don't have what it takes to fix it. Which is the "desire" to find a solution that benefits everyone, not just your side.

It took several days for the police to determine that.

Including threats against Republicans, and lets not forget Stupak got threats BEFORE he changed his vote and the MSM and Dem leadership was mum, the minute he changed his vote they made it a public issue.

Congress-critters get vile messages left for them all the time. What is outrageous is their trying to paint the Tea Party and the Republicans with one broad brush claiming they are racist and violent and support this.
