My exact words (which you quoted) were as follows: "If it were simply a market-driven decision, reflecting the tastes of the community, I would have no problem with it."
In other words, I am a bit skeptical of the claim that it was simply a "business decision," entirely unrelated to any left-leaning PC doctrine. Whereas I cannot prove, irrefutably, that this is the case, I am rather disposed to believe that it is. |

As for not buying things they don't expect to sell, that's not the way the media/publishing industry works. Publishers take back inventory all the time at little to no penalty. If books don't sell, retailers simply are out the inventory carrying costs, not the inventory dollars. That's why for the most part the publishers determine assortment, not the retailers.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I see that most people involved in the small time hands on literary industry, just don't consider "Going Rogue" is literature at all.
sorry someone had to say it...

Point is that it doesn't matter where you live you can throw your money away on the book. And I think Chris Matthews had it right that many people have purchased her book as a sort of confidence vote in support of her.
They wouldn't care if it was a picture book. |

Hello, I keep hearing a faint echo of Dixie Chicks here. As for as the book stores go, they could always put a few behind the counter and when a Palinesta comes in and sidles up to the counter and whispers for one, he gets one in a brown paper bag.
