i think that Michael may have been ordered some fudge one time and it arrives all mis-packed, so now he has grudge against fudge-packers....

My exact words (which you quoted) were as follows: "If it were simply a market-driven decision, reflecting the tastes of the community, I would have no problem with it."

In other words, I am a bit skeptical of the claim that it was simply a "business decision," entirely unrelated to any left-leaning PC doctrine.

Whereas I cannot prove, irrefutably, that this is the case, I am rather disposed to believe that it is.

My apologies - I haven't been specific enough. A porn shop won't sell bibles - if it did it would probably lose business. A left wing book shop isn't going to sell right wing auto biographies - if it did it would also probably lose business. Both are business decisions - both stores cater to a specific clientele. I don't see either censorship or political correctness in the decisions. The editorial comments made by the clerk are irrelevant.

Bookstores around here don't seem to come in political flavors and can and do carry all sorts of books. Just one of the many reasons why this is a superior part of the country to live in.

Meh, I saw Palin's book in Target the other day. The left wing book stores are simply missing out on potential sales and missing out on a chance to engage their customers.

As for not buying things they don't expect to sell, that's not the way the media/publishing industry works. Publishers take back inventory all the time at little to no penalty. If books don't sell, retailers simply are out the inventory carrying costs, not the inventory dollars. That's why for the most part the publishers determine assortment, not the retailers.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I see that most people involved in the small time hands on literary industry, just don't consider "Going Rogue" is literature at all.
sorry someone had to say it...

Point is that it doesn't matter where you live you can throw your money away on the book. And I think Chris Matthews had it right that many people have purchased her book as a sort of confidence vote in support of her.
They wouldn't care if it was a picture book. There are 300,000,000 of us here. she has sold 700,000 books. Sounds like a wave to me. Ha ha

Hello, I keep hearing a faint echo of Dixie Chicks here. As for as the book stores go, they could always put a few behind the counter and when a Palinesta comes in and sidles up to the counter and whispers for one, he gets one in a brown paper bag.

non-chain book stores and small town libraries.
