NBC News host calls the sitting U.S. President a "Monkey"

This is what passes for journalism these days...:

people have joked about Bush looking like a monkey since his first campaign

lighten up

if Bush can call newsmen "assholes" on the air, a newsman can call Bush a monkey.

no news here

Bush did NOT "call newsmen "assholes" on the air"...

Bush whispered into the ear of someone (I think Cheney; not sure) and a microphone picked it up...That's different from Bush intentionally saying it into the microphone for public consumption...

If this lady was sitting at a restaurant and said it to friends, it would be no big deal, but she was on the clock and being a representative of the network she works for...

You thinking it's no big deal is saying you don't believe professionalism in journalism is needed...

One would hope standards would be higher than this...

it's not saying that at all

it's saying that I - like millions of others - think that the chimp looks like - a monkey

this is NOT a story

The morning infotainment shows are a little information mixed with a lot of bantering and entertainment.

I don't think that it was right that she said that, but one must look at the nature of the show and take it in context.

So a news program on a news show calling the sitting president of the United States is not alright, but if it's not in a news context than calling the president of the United States a monkey is contextually OK...

Got it...

"It's not actually a "news program" so insults are more acceptable"...

Calling him a mere "chimp" is erring WAY on the side of kindness. He's actually an amoeba being propped up by Halliburton.
